Blakes Golf Club

I have played Blakes before it's not a bad course , the course was in good condition. But it was very slow took over 4hrs to play 14 holes, we gave up after that.

For the money I paid £18 it was about right anymore and you might feel hard done by due to the rock hard greens greens .

Saying that would like to know every single time I book for two golfer's Blakes try to double us up to four ball. Staff mentioned not their fault but Golf now. To be honest don't care who that is but it has to stop, as at the end of the day you should get what you pay for.

This is a very interesting course with a good variety of holes, some longish par 4s and a couple of risk a reward par 5s. The 8th is fab, short par 3 with an island Green and no bail out! Greens are medium speed and feel a little like links greens, but quite consistent - they do take a while to learn though. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Just be careful when North Wheald market is on, as traffic can be horrendous!

its in good condition, greens are very good. the overall course layout is not too hard, but it will all depend on the wind conditions to determine how difficult it will be on the day. some long par 4s, beautiful par 3s, one onto an island green.

its a lovely little gem at £22.

This is a really interesting and quite tricky course

It has a good variety of holes, some longish parts 4s and risk and reward par 5s. The short Par 3, 8th with it's island green is fabulous. The greens hold up well in Winter, but the course can get a little boggy if there's been a lot of rain! Overall, it's a good course, only draw back is it's next to North Weald, so check that it's not 'Market' day!

Got some great features like the lake hole, would maybe recommend a buggy if you can’t handle hills, really fast greens

First time playing the course and was impressed with the well kept (fast) greens and general condition of the course after a lot of rain. The staff were helpful and friendly. Only downsides (but did not affect the round) were there were no ball cleaners on any holes and the bunkers were not in good condition. Overall it’s a great course for the fee and will definitely be returning soon.

Given the recent heavy rains, the course has held up really well with impressively fast greens! Great layout with some interesting holes, the 17th and 18th are really spectacular. Looking forward to playing in dryer weather.

Starter advised as booked through GolfNow the owner didn’t like GolfNow and should of booked directly as a result he would have to pair us up and not let us tee off prior to tee time although no-one waiting, similar conservation with group behind who had also booked through GolfNow. Paired us up and they did not make tee time so went off. Caught us up on 3rd hole and said we had to wait for other 2 as late - resulting in holding up play albeit no one in front. My advice is don’t book here through GolfNow

The course stays dry in the wet winter months. Greens are very good and quick

Blakes is a really good links style golf course. I have played there a couple times with friends. I would say a week day is best for pace of play. It has pretty much everything you could ask for Really. Really well maintained and greens roll really well too.

Highly suggest.

Play here quit regualary good course and good value. Always a friendly welcome and for a Sunday afternoon not to busy.

Some bunkers are Gur but otherwise course is in good condition. A links style course with some very interesting holes.
