All staff really friendly. Course in Nice condition but greens a little slow. Overall very enjoyable
Poor communication
Very disappointed to be playing on several temp greens in the middle of summer. Even more disappointed knowing the chap in the shop didn't see fit to tell us either
excellent golf course
Greens a bit bumpy and soft but a great layout. We will be back.
Sunday morning
Booked the tee time through the app for myself and a friend. Still a bit cautious regarding the COVID situation so just 2 of us played. When we arrived at the course we were told that we had to pair up with another two ball (complete strangers). I wasn’t aware of this when booking and wouldn’t have booked if I had have known. We spoke to the other 2 ball and said due to the quietness off the course that morning we would go out in 2 x 2balls and see if it worked. Through about 6 holes it worked fine with a nice gap inbetween us, them and the group behind untill the shop lad came round moaning at us as we had split up. I tried to explain (Again) we weren’t holding anyone up and were not happy about pairing up with strangers. He then mumbled something about his boss and drove off. We then preceded on with our round at a nice pace not holding anyone up and finished our round in a normal time.
They were clearing trying to get as many people onto the course as they could and with the current situation I think this was a very poor shoe from the course.
Won’t be rushing back which is a shame as the course itself is in great condition.
Bondhay Afternnon Round 28th July
Friendly staff in shop. Very helpful
Course in good condition. At times on some holes not clear where you go to the next tee. Needs better signage.
Some members were a bit pushy on the back 9 making it a rushed affair.
Overall a good course, friendly staff
Don’t play Tuesday or Thursday morning
I do like this course it’s a great test of golf for all players however on my latest trip we got behind the seniors playing in midweek comp. 5 hours to play a round (2 ball) the groups in front would not let anyone through there pace of play was shocking snails move faster at one point we had 4 groups on the same hole (par 5 ninth) they was looking for balls taking more than 3 mins one guy spent 5 mins looking for his ball then walked back to place of original shot to play another ball no apologies at all they look at you like they own the course and you have no rite to be there. So you have been warned about it
There are fairer tough courses
The course is well kept and goodness greens. However, it is very tight due to the many trees and at times unnecessary bunkers.
Often a shot just off the fairway, which on other similar courses would cost a shot, results in a double bogey.
One to try and then maybe only play once a year. Suits the very straight hitter or short hitter.
Excellent course
Course was in fantastic condition from tee to green. Highly recommended this course to anyone. Very impressive
Excellent
Bondhay is a club that I enjoy every time I go there. It’s a place i know very well and has attracted me to go often ever since. There’s a Par 3 junior course for the little ones which is 9 holes and a 18 hole course with an option to play the front or back 9 holes. Only at a reasonable price. Me and a friend opted for the front 9 and i learned that Bondhay is not only a fantastic course it is also very difficult and a lot of skill is needed to play this course. The facilities are great with a pro shop, driving range, putting green and restaurant equipped inside. The staff who i know well are extremely kind and know their wits about golf and make the place very welcoming. Bondhay is also located out of the way in the Derbyshire countryside so you don’t have to worry about any off putting noises. The qualities of the fairways, tee boxes and greens are superb however the green quality for the junior course is quite poor as it is very bumpy with mud and dead grass. Overall Bondhay is an Excellent course and i would 100% recommend to anyone reading this review.
Tough course but worth the effort
This course is a good test of golf. Tight tree lined fairways, plenty of bunkers, undulating greens. However it’s well worth the effort and a beautiful finish over water on 18th.
Lovely course
Fantastic greens, good welcoming staff and an overall good course, great value for money highly recommend
Slow slow slow
Course was ok for a flat tree lined motorway. But the pace of play was painful. 4 holes in over an hour, I didn’t have a head torch so had to abandon ship. Terrible experience for a first (and last) timer.
