Highly recommend
My favourite course in the area. Green are to be expected with the wildlife etc, but if you want a quiet afternoon with zero traffic, in a beautiful location- it does get much better!
Hidden Gen
Not everyday you get to play golf amongst new forest ponies and cattle grazing. The course is the oldest in the new forest as such is left to the wildlife to graze on but dispite this the fairways still had enough grass on to get the club under the ball. The greens were pretty good, a bit patchy in areas but considering the summer we've had they were acceptable. The course is laid out really well with many challenging holes. You certainly need a few looks at the course to know where to hit your next shot but on the whole, golf in the quiet of the new forest is an absolute winner. Clubhouse also gets the thumbs up, friendly, welcoming and a lovely breakfast. Thoroughly recommend.
Rustic golf!
Played this course in the height of a summer heatwave and so it was parched. Greens still in decent shape though, given the weather and the environment in which the course sits.
This is not a course for those who want pristine golf from manicured fairways and immaculate cart paths.
It is a bit of a step back in time - cut through the natural landscape, with horses and other wildlife freely roaming across the land. Some greens are enclosed by wire fencing to stop the animals grazing! It’s deep in the New Forest, with all the beauty that brings. The course is reached by a 2 minute drive from the main club, or a 10 minute walk.
I had it to myself on a summer Friday afternoon and it was lovely. Would absolutely go back but maybe in less searing heat!
Greens in poor condition
The summer has been exceptionally dry and I do appreciate that fact but all of the greens on the course have been heavily sanded and seeded and there was virtually no green on them at all. It was almost impossible to judge any putting. All of the tee boxes were nothing really more than dust. I have played this course quite a bit and this is the poorest condition I have seen it in. Not really worth paying the £20 green fee.
A must play course, A course like no other.
Forest course was in better condition than I was expecting due to weather conditions.
Ponies having a little of the greens but that’s the forest course.
A marmite course, but it teaches you how not to stressed on the course.
A beautiful walk .
Forest course
Upon hearing it was our 1st time, bloke in the shop kindly directed us to the car park, but No course lay out, no signs to next tee, different coloured flags with no consistency, Played the 17th green instead of the 1st.. A few interesting holes. But it's a New Forest course and as expected plenty of wild life roaming around, very similar to Burley in that respect
Don't waste your money.
Course is in awful condition throughout. Tee boxes in poor condition and so hard we couldn't get tees in some of them. Greens again in very poor condition. Probably the worst condition course I have played and I've played some poor quality golf courses.
Bramshaw forest course
Had to drive from manor course to forest course I found there was no signs telling you course numbers and directions and the greens are all fenced off as there's wild animals on course and the sprinkler was on all the greens which was annoying if you landed on green you got soaked and obstruction staff not friendly or helpful but for 15 pounds was ok nice setting on the forest
Standard Forest Course - overpriced
Like all forest courses this one lacks major upkeep. The layout is okay, but there are a few times where other groups are teeing off either in your line to the hole or within 50-100 yards of your green. I do not think it's a £40 course, Im okay paying £30 through the Golf now app, but that is the most I would pay for this course when there are better courses in the area for £35/£40.
Bramshaw forest
First time playing the forest course at bramshaw, wow what lovely and quirky place, a true little hidden gem..
The pro shop is well stocked with polo's, shirts, shocks to balls and shoes.. staff are extremely helpful and friendly .
Now thw course itself is set on common land with the fairways maintained by horses, cows and ponies.. but saying that the fairways are lovely to play and the greens are very good and quick.. so many interesting holes await.. already playing again in 2 weeks and considering becoming a member..
Must play..!
Don't expect much
Could be really good, but animal foot prints everywhere makes it really difficult to predict where on earth your ball will end up.
Some really good holes, but the first four holes put you off straightaway.
Friendly members, and good for those starting the game.
Bramshaw forest course.
As per golf shop pro, because the forest course is in the grounds of The New Forest, they are unable to maintain the course as they would like. Purely natural with ponies and horses roaming as they should. Slightly awkward when they are on the greens but they soon move off.
.
Holes 3&4 were shut with no price discount and we were also not notified of this by staff
Needs attention
First tee Not near clubhouse, damaged by cattle and ponies , missing next tee signs, greens rough.
Needs tlc
Bramshaw golf club is a good set up apart from the forest course, it is a good 500yds to the first tee and you have to drive to it assuming the pro shop points this out (which they didnt) and we initislly started walking only to phone the shop and return for our car.
It is a forest course and as duch suffers from horse and cattle damage, the main gripe is the lack of next tee signs for visitors, which is annoying.
Cancelled without warning
Showed up to play this course early luckily enough to be told we cant let u play today we cant have u play the other course and was left without being able to play a round of golf and told they couldn’t do anything about it. No warning untill we got there so very disappointed
Unplayable
Hole 3 & 4 completely unplayable due to the horse hoves in the ground from the weather this year.. Decided to walk back to the car after the 4 hole as it’s just not worth twisting my ankle to playing these awful conditions.
Great place and wonderful wildlife
Have played here a few times and strongly recommend this place. Good facilities and a nice layout on the course.
