Ageist Eric
Course is an absolute dump with a battered up club house. Was originally charged £28 for nine holes of golf when it clearly said on their system I was booked in for nine holes. You'd think this would drop the price in half... NOPE £22 to play on tee boxes with dirt holes it in and bunkers that look like they have never been raked. Plus having to deal with the most unbearable employees working their.Specifically Eric. Who seems to think he's better than everybody else. He's rude, patronising and ageist. As I walked into the"pro shop" and rang the bell to get an employees attention (Eric) his lack of customer service and general communication skills were showing. Hardly acknowledged me and as stated before tried charging me £28!!!! To play nine holes. Once I had paid the daylight robbery prices (£22!) we asked for a buggy. Eric's reply was "do you need one" this really set the tone of the conversation for me, who is he to judge whether we need a buggy or not. You are a business I'm asking for a service. You don't ask me if I need a buggy or why. I hope I'm clear ERIC. He then proceeded to ask our age and i told him i have a drivers license. When he is in no right to ask for it to rent a buggy. You'd think this would be enough proof that I'm able to drive a golf buggy around this golf course. NOPE!!! Eric then decided to give us a "safety briefing" on how to drive a buggy. (He wouldn't give a "safety briefing" to any other guests who were older. Eric chose to be deliberately difficult with us because he's ageist and a miserable person who has an agenda to young people).
Which is quite strange as I drove my CAR to Chartridge. Once I had told ERIC I have driven a golf buggy numerous times he patronised me by telling me to “calm down”. I guess that’s how employees treat their guests at Chartridge. Eric continued to insist that i needed to listen to his "safety briefing" on how to drive it here. He claimed that we were going to cause the club thousands of pounds in damage which was the last straw for me. Eric is ageist towards young people, has no customer service skills and just an unpleasant person to be around. Please avoid him and this place. The golf course is horrendous and the staff are even worse. New staff and ownership is needed for this place to have any chance of surviving.
Okay, but wouldn’t go back…
Front nine was pretty unpleasant… tight course and mostly on a slope… back nine much better, but not what I would call in an enjoyable course to play
Good value for money
Decent course for the low cost - better than some more expensive local courses.
Interesting course with some different challenges
Greens in very good condition but fairways suffering a little due to recent dry weather but still OK to play on. Lots of different holes which require you to think about how to play them. It's a course which I guess you can shoot a good score but also plenty of hazards are easy to find to ruin your round. Definitely worth another visit next time im in the area.
Not worth the money
Played this course, as a two ball. Course layout is extremely cramped, constant balls flying from either holes. T Box’s in dreadful condition. Don’t be fooled by the photos. Not at all flat by any means.
Overall just not one bit entertaining
Basic holes, walked off after 9 holes.
Will definitely not be returning to this course. Much better courses for less of equal rates.
Beautiful Setting, Excellent Condition!
Played the course on 11th March between 10-11am and thought the course was fantastic. The setting and the views are amazing and I must say the fairways and especially the greens were the best I have seen for a long time. The greens roll pure and are excellent to play on. The staff are fantastic especially the greenkeepers on course who were friendly as we talked in passing, they politely stopped their work on the fourth green for us to play. Very impressed with everything and looking forward to visiting again!
Great course in great condition for this time of year
Some amazing holes walking through slopey tree lined fairways. Great breakfast before the round😋. All in all great value for money.
Winter fun
Iv played this course a few times now in summer and really enjoyed it. This time playing in winter I had much lower expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The only thing I can mark it down for is playing off mats on quite a few tee boxes. Fairways greens and bunkers all maintained really well. Staff in the clubhouse were friendly and helpful. Quite a short course but tricky and varied. Well worth visiting chartridge for a round if your in the area. We will be coming back for sure!
Excellent condition for this time of tesr
Great challenge. Quite a tight course with tree lined fairways. For this time of year the fairways and greens were in amazing condition. Paths were a bit muddy but overall the best course in bucks and berks I’ve played over the winter months.
Sunday golf
3 ball on Sunday , club was very friendly and staff accommodating, wasn't too busy and good pace of play , course is a good test of golf , greens excellent , some fairways a little muddy but no worse than any other course this time of year , in general well maintained . Some holes seem a little squeezed in and lots of shouts of "four" good value for money for a weekend pay and play
Price-point not quite right
October 2024
We had never played this course before so arrived without any expectations really. The staff were very friendly / helpful / welcoming and the clubhouse had everything one would need.
The course was testing in places with both undulating and quite severe gradient at times and it felt like there were too many short par 3s making up the 18.
Condition of the course was generally fair for the time of year but some of the greens were pretty patchy / untrue. I got the impression that a lot of people had not bothered to repair divots which is disappointing but incredibly difficult to police.
We felt it wasn't worth the price point when compared with other local courses but I cannot of course comment on the condition in the spring and summer. If we were to return, it would be in the early summer months.
thinkers course
not your run of the mill course ,varied tee's give you something to think about to keep your ball on the fairway ,some testing par3's as well , overall a lovely course with a very consistant slope rating on all of the greens , not usually the case after all the inclement weather we have had ,it's top marks for the ground staff from me.
Great condition and value for money
Course was in great condition , drained quickly despite the heavy showers wasn't an issue. Great value for money and great afternoon.
Tough course
First time playing here. I found it really difficult. I hit every club in the bag today. Your iron game needs to be spot on to play here. It’s was in lovely condition. Seemed very busy. Held up a little by the group in front but by no means slow. Now I know where I’m going it’ll probably be a lot easier as there are some blind shots and an ok shot has been unduly punished by a lost ball. In the dry conditions the ball ran on through greens. Having the knowledge of where to land things and run out etc seems essential to posting a good score. As a one off it’s probably a bit too tight and frustrating but if you have the chance to play here often then it would probably be a good challenge.
Excellent course
Really good course. Excellent layout with varied and challenging holes.
Hidden gem
Great course, fairways were like carpet, greens could have been better a lot of unrepaired pitch marks but weren’t to bad
Well placed bunkers and a few slopping holes. Testing course but definitely one to try out. Bloke in pro shop was not a happy soul but will be back for another round
