Buffalo Creek Golf Club
About
Highly touted Buffalo Creek has been praised for its layout, condition, and overall attention to detail. No matter who you talk to in the DFW area, they all seem to praise the superb condition of the course from tee to green. Offering a 7,078-yard par 71 Jay Morrish/Tom Weiskopf design, Buffalo Creek offers a good combination of holes: straight holes, dogleggers, uphill and downhill shots, and both long and short holes.
One of the best features is the club’s method of using a pin location sheet to mark exactly where each pin is located on a particular day (up to six locations), which is unbelievably helpful to hacks who’ve never played the course before and have no feel for the look and contour of the greens.
Getting there : Take I-30 east from Dallas and exit Ridge Rd. Turn right and find the course 1.6 miles down on the left.

Treated like a criminal
First back in May we booked a tee time here and an hour before on the day of we got a call saying our tee time was canceled because of a tournament which left us scrambling to find a new place to play last min. They could have called the day before? Or even earlier since they knew they were having a tournament, nope 1 hour before as we were about to walk out the door to go there. manager apologized and said he refunded out money and would give us a free four person round just keep his email.
I was there from out of town on business with two clients and a friend that lives up in the Dallas area. We used the free round and was talking business and cutting up and having a great time. At the turn, my friend who lives there and plays there frequently told us that we get a free hot dog with our round. We went in and the counter girl started giving us our hot dogs when the manager came RUNNING over yelling stop and started asking us for our tickets. We explained how we got the round, etc and didn't know anything about the tickets. I explained to him that 3 of us were from out of town and here on business and have never played here before and our buddy said we got a free hotdog and that we were not trying to steal from them. He told the counter girl to put the dogs back and rolled his eyes at us, acting very annoyed, and walked off as if he didn't even want to hear the truth. I even said I have no problem paying for them and he just continues walking with away with his back to me.
So...I will NOT be bringing clients to play this course again. That was VERY embarrassing and I don't like being treated like a thief over a $4 hotdog.
bad bunkers
Greens were fair , but the bunkers have no sand in them , they are mainly compacted dirt . No chance to get the club under the ball
Dried up course
Had trouble getting the first tee in the ground it was so dry! The course looks to have gotten way too much play with way too little care for the t boxes. The sand was perfectly manicured the t boxes not so much. We aborted our round at the turn due to a total log jam. Hackers had taken over the course. Not sure how to better manage that but they need to figure it out. They have a nice layout in a pretty nice setting but there is nothing special about this course. Don't pay over $20 to play it!
Very challenging - fast greens
Great course - played in 4 hours - very challenging with fast greens
Good for the price
The tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Rough was deep but playable. Unfortunately they had just dumped a load of sand on the greens and never said a word about it. Good layout and at $25 you really can't beat it. Would of had a better time if the greens were puttable.
Best valué at DFW
Great layout great conditions of the course awesome pace of place!!!
What is happening to Rockwall golf?
I don't know what is going on in Rockwall. Each year of my 15 years in the area the golfing experience has declined. RGAC is overpriced. Buffalo Creek is slow and messy. Buff used to be a fantastic track but now lacks starters, ambassadors and even the snack cart isn't out on a Sunday over the holiday weekend. Even the course is starting to suffer as players are not maintaining divots anymore than they are taking 3-4 shots off the tee and from sand traps that are a mess. It's really sad ... at least they are pricing it like it plays.
Great golf experience
Our foursome played the course for the first time and it met and exceeded all expectations. First of all, the staff was the friendliest we have ever encountered and that included when making our tee time one week in advance. We loved the course. We found it challenging and very fair. Holes 6 and 16 are two of the best you will find anywhere. We look forward to playing Buffalo Creek again!
always fun
Wished I lived closer...but I do drive to play this course several times a year. For winter it was in great shape. tons of roll on the fairways and the greens were smooooth and fast.
Fun Course
Fun course, very fast green. Fairways are etreamly fast because of the time of the year. You can get an extra 50 on fairway roles.
Great Value
This course is a good bang for your buck. Very friendly staff, and they take good care of their greens. Challenging course, but fun.
Beautiful day
Great November day. Course had some issues due to recent bad weather. Traps unplayable, standing water otherwise great course with good layout.
$5 per person fee to Golfnow is too high. Bye bye Golfnow.
Great Views
The course was in excellent condition. I had heard of this location before and always wanted to play the course. It was worth the one hour drive to play here. The greens were in excellent condition and the fairways were also in very good shape. It would not be fair to judge the traps due to the recent rains. But, it appeared that they are usually maintained well. I will definitely play the course again when I get the chance.
Very nice
Played from the white tees this round. Makes for a completely different round.
Big let down.
Great for the price I paid of $19.99.
Water cans were empty. Greens were not cut. No cart girl even to get a drink. End of the day, there were no paper towels in the restroom.
Buffalo Creek - Still Amazing
I have been playing at Buffalo Creek since 2003. I grew up playing the course and worked there briefly after high school. I never pass up a chance to play here. The course is in great shape, yes it was hot yesterday, but there was a small rain shower that came over us on 16 and it was welcomed!
I love this course and will be back soon!
Hot Day - Lots of walking
The greens had been punched and sanded and are still a bit rough.
The "No Cart" signs are placed around 100 yards from the greens and the cart path is on average 50 yards away from the green. If it is a hot day and you have some trouble walking, you should avoid this course.
Very interesting course, but it is a bit overpriced (including beverages) for the overall experience. I don't mind paying higher prices for golf, but the experience must be upscale - this was at best average.
