Forest Creek Golf Club
About
Designed by Dick Phelps, Forest Creek Golf Club has been named "Best Public Golf Course in Central Texas" by Golf Digest as well as "Golf Club of the Year" by Club Corporation of America. Phelps' design features plush, narrow fairways, and its namesake Forest Creek that comes into play on 11 holes. Many of the holes dogleg, and its most difficult holes are the long par 4s. These holes are especially evident on the back nine, with holes 10, 15, and 18 all playing well over 400 yards. The 15th is the most difficult, playing a bogey-welcoming, par 5-like 472 yards.

Golfer
It’s always a pleasure to play at Forest Creek. I play there at least once a month and would more often but I have to drive across Austin to get there, at least 45 minutes. Course and greens always in great shape. Fun to play yet challenging
Golf shop and grill staff couldn’t be nicer, always a smile and helpful.
A nice course for the money
The course was in very nice shape, especially for this time of year and one day after a heavy rain. It was our first time playing here, and we enjoyed it. It's a nice touch to get a sleeve of balls and a coupon for a free hot dog/sausage wrap and draft beer at the snack bar. I will come back again for sure.
Revisiting Forest Creek
It had been about 7 years since I last visiting Forest Creek, but finally got back out for a pre-Thanksgiving round.
I heard they had made some upgrades to the course, and it showed. The practice areas are quite nice and very above average... really one of the better setups in town.
The landscaped areas throughout the course were also very pleasant and conditions were quite good. The greens definitely had a little heat in them!
The layout remains as quirky as I'd remembered. The tree on number 2 continues to haunt me. It was a pretty windy day, but it seemed like 7 and 9 were the only holes downwind... and of course that just makes those drives even trickier!
I gotta give it up... since my last visit my two biggest complaints (pace of play and friendliness of the staff) were more than resolved. Even on a crowded day we got around in just over 4 hrs and the staff was super friendly. I should find my way back in less than 7 years... and so should you!
Fall Golf
Great day and nice course conditions
.Greens we’re fast and rolled well even with the heavy play. Bunkers were in great shape with good sand. Play was relatively slow but all else was well and made for a pleasant round
Challenging course
Nice challenging layout. Most greens elevated. Ground was fairly soft in front of greens and most of my shots came up short. It was windy when I played and that made club choice difficult. Several holes require precise shot placement from tee.
The cart came with bottles of water. Pro shop staff friendly and helpful.
Greens were in very good condition and were deceptively fast.
If I had reserved my tee time through the course I could have gotten a senior rate and saved $11 over the online booking.
Longest round ever
I'll start with what was good about the round. The course is in good shape, and the jalapeno sausage wrap was great.
No for the bad part. This round took 6 hours! They obviously had too many people on the course. At every tee box, the group in front of us was still teeing off, and the group behind us was there before we could finish teeing off.
We had a coupon for a beer and hot dog or sausage wrap, so we stopped at the grill after 9 (3 hours). The line was insanely long, but there were two groups waiting to tee off on 10. So, we decided to get in line. After 20 minutes waiting, they were out of my first and second choice for beer.
There were no marshals anywhere to be found until the 15th hole. The only thing he had to say was that it's always slow when there is a tournament. What are we supposed to take away from that? Do they think the tournament is more important than the other groups? Or worse, is it somehow my fault for booking a round on the same day as a tournament. I hope they made a ton of money from that tournament because they'll never get another dime from me.
Declining Course
Not what we expected. I would say give it some time and maybe it will come around. We were not too impressed with the course or the course conditions. Seems it has seen better days. The layout was quirky to us, lots of blind tee shots, kind of like they squeezed in a few holes between some houses. The greens were decent, about like a well played public course would be.
Thanks for your 5 star review. See you soon.
Thanks for your 5 star review. See you soon!
They should refund my money.. The golf experience was so bad they should pay me for wasting my time. I will never play this course again. Besides the fact that it's a marginal course, the customer service is less than language not allowed
We regret you feel this way but this is not the normal golf experience at Forest Creek. Please contact Jeff Dayton, GM, at 512-388-2874 to discuss your experience in greater detail so we can understand what went wrong. We certainly want to understand your viewpoint as to what made this such a bad experience. Thank you.
Forest
A ten-some of Asians sharing 2 sets of clubs and one cart. One cart driver, 9 runners...and I mean runners. Everyone on foot ran behind the cart to the shortest drive, watched the shot and then the cartman takes off again with 9 little ducklings following. This continued for as long as I felt comfortable staring, mouth agape
Thanks for sharing. We are not aware of this occurrence and and we do not even allow 5somes, let alone 10somes.
Thanks for your 4 stat review. We hope to provide the extra star on your next visit.
One of the best tracks in the hill country!
We've had a lot of rain but the course drained well, the greens & fairways were in excellent shape. You've got plenty of courses charging twice as much as FC and not even close to as good a shape (I wont mention any names). Can't wait to get back out there!
Thanks for your kind words. We try to provide a quality experience at a great value. Thanks again.
Excellent
Excellent. Extremely crowded but pace of play was good.
Thanks for your 2 star review and sorry you didn't score better.
