Lovely course
First time at Cockermouth. Lovely course. Quite hilly and some quirky holes but very enjoyable. Hope to play again.
Greens have sadly went way downhill
I’ve played this course a number of times over the years when visiting family nearby. Sadly whilst the course remains a decent test, particularly in the wind, the greens are frankly just not up to scratch to merit charging £40 a round.
Overall
Overall course was enjoyable scenery was excellent fairways great condition layout was quirky and a good test of golf
Greens had unfortunately been sanded and were unplayable which spoiled the overall experience
Challenging course.
Unfortunately due to lack rain the course was very dry. Greens very hard. Fairways slope left or right or both on most shots and ball just runs off into the rough on a lot of the holes. If played again would be able to judge a bit better where to hit to in order to avoid some of the slopes. It is hilly but you are in the Lake District. That said we did enjoy it, fantastic views , great pint afterwards in club. Worth a visit.
Great golf course
Visited cockermouth golf course while working away from home and what a beautiful course the staff were really friendly. All the members we encountered were friendly one guy was really helpful giving us some course knowledge
The greens were immaculate the views breathtaking we enjoyed it so much we played two days later
The only negative is there is no onsite golf shop.
Lovely course
Some up and downing on the course but loved the layout and in very good condition, played with a member who was off +2 who was a pleasure to play with and gave some good advice on the blind holes. Make sure you have your weetabix if you’re carrying.
Nice course for time of year
Nicely laid out course .Wide fairways with very few trees .You wont lose a ball .Great views throughout the round .Nice dry fairways for this time of year .Greens were hollow cored so difficult to put on .Really enjoyed the round .Would definetly go back in the summer
Some unique holes and great views
4 of us played the course and it was superb. Some really fun holes, and the greens were in great condition. Quite a lot of blind tee shots which wasn’t an issue as some of us had played here before. There are a lot of uneven lies which adds to the challenge. The views were stunning.
The clubhouse was friendly and the staff were fantastic. Definitely recommend it and will be coming back.
Another day, another course.
This is a James Braid little gem.
A must for any golfer who likes a challenge.
Located on a lakeland fell it has unbroken views of the Western Lake District National Park mountains & westward towards the Irish sea.
Great wee clubhouse accessed via a single track road from the A66 & welcoming staff.
First few holes are UP Hill, so a buggy or electric trolley is advised for those with mobility issues.
Once on top, the course is fairly manageable, with wide fairways & slick greens.
As I said, a great wee course. My group never stopped smiling all the way around.
Will play again for sure!!
Great course
Played cockermouth yesterday - course in good condition , the green were absolutely fantastic , much better than other courses in the area who charge a lot more to play
Would definitely recommend playing here and will be back before end of summer
Great course
The course was in great condition when we played mid July and we enjoyed the variety of differing challenges hole by hole, a gem of a course we would love to play again in the future.
Challenging and beautiful
Challenging course with stunning scenery. Unusual hill side location with many Interesting holes.
We played it before and will play it again.
Lovely Lake District Golf
Cockermouth gc is a must play golf club if in the lakes.
Course is in great condition. Staff were all super friendly and helpful.
Views are amazing!
Greens were consistent and true.
Amazing Views
Really enjoyable day at Braid designed Cockermouth. The views are incredible and the course in general is in great condition. Unfortunately the greens had just been cored and sanded so putting was a lottery. Shame this was not on their website or on GN as a warning. In spite of the course being up in the hills it is easy walking. Memorable tee shots on 10 & 16. Recommend a visit!!
