Hidden gem

Classic James Braid course, sympathetic to the landscape and using the natural features. Very hilly with a spectacular backdrop and small greens. Very friendly locals, big thanks to Graham, Mark and Dick for allowing me to join them and their much needed local knowledge. The photographs do not do this course justice.

Shame the bar was shut owing to illness but there was a lovely range of cakes for sale.

If you're anywhere near cockermouth it's worth a visit.

Fantastic golf course, stunning scenery, immaculately maintained all round with perfect greens, wind can be brutal though so be aware.

Golf course with lovely views

Had a great day at Cockermouth golf club. The golf course is about a 5-10 minute drive from Cockermouth, and sits within the Lake District national park. There are some lovely views of the surrounding mountains and fells as you go round. The course was in top condition despite the recent rainfall. If you’re lucky you may also get to see some F15 fighter jets fly by. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Great views

Lovely course, enjoyed walking round. Only down side is my inability to get the ball to go where I want it to.

Clubhouse was closed for the holiday. Easy to book on the GN app.

Great course

Wet start to the day but as the weather cleared, fantastic views over the fells. Played of winter tees and used a mat of the fairways. Unfortunately, the number of people that seem to not know how to repair pitch marks is shocking! The greens were peppered. Didn’t detract too much from a good round of golf.

Greens have sadly went way downhill

I’ve played this course a number of times over the years when visiting family nearby. Sadly whilst the course remains a decent test, particularly in the wind, the greens are frankly just not up to scratch to merit charging £40 a round.

Challenging course.

Unfortunately due to lack rain the course was very dry. Greens very hard. Fairways slope left or right or both on most shots and ball just runs off into the rough on a lot of the holes. If played again would be able to judge a bit better where to hit to in order to avoid some of the slopes. It is hilly but you are in the Lake District. That said we did enjoy it, fantastic views , great pint afterwards in club. Worth a visit.

Lovely course

Some up and downing on the course but loved the layout and in very good condition, played with a member who was off +2 who was a pleasure to play with and gave some good advice on the blind holes. Make sure you have your weetabix if you’re carrying.
