Great cheap course
It’s a great cheap course with everything u need for an 18 hole, it’s a course for beginners where it’s pretty straight forward but the holes are very long ranging from 200-400 yards buts is defintely worth the money
Very poor course
I played here yesterday, when I arrived I entered the shop . I was then told by a member of staff that they are using temporary greens at the moment, this wasn’t stated anywhere online ! The fairways are in terrible condition and the temporary greens even worse . From what I remember only 2 or 3 holes actually had a sign on the tee box to tell you what hole it was , only women’s tees visible most of the time , the rest is a guessing game if your playing from the yellows or white tees , I got lost 4 or 5 times . Wondering around the course looking for the next hole , the sign for hole 6 is just a 6 with an arrow spray painted into a tree , but you then have to walk 4 minutes arrowed the back of some bushes past metal containers with people working in cars … I thought I was playing the 15th hole only to check my app when I got to the bottom to find it was actually the 12th . If you play this course bring a compass and a pack lunch as you may be there a while ! No course management or maintenance, there’s kids riding through on bikes , people walking there dogs or just having a stroll coming out from behind bushes as your teeing off . Don’t bother with the course if you enjoy golf , you may also get stopped by a local as I did , strolling around the course with 1 club and a pouch of balls telling me he never pays and to just walk onto the course . Also started telling me to get rid of my taylormade clubs and buy some cheap ones for £20 off Facebook , if you manage to avoid him I’d just head back to the car and leave .
Poor
The course was in a very bad condition. Temp greens at this stage of the year shows the course isn't being maintained very well.
Last year was lovely course for a knock but the way the up keep of the course is now I wouldn't recommend.
Coxmoor value for money
Coxsmoor wood is a course with a good layout and plenty of trees water and bunkers . It seems that the grounds men have done well to keep the course in good condition following vandalism to the putting greens .
Bad course
Bad course conditions.
The greens are shocking condition.
No signes for next tee box
We left after 5 holes and went elsewhere
Good course design, terribly maintained
This course is good on paper, challenging and fun. But it’s just so terribly maintained and looked after. The first cut it like deep rough and the rough is sometimes waist high. Other courses run by this company are well minted like Pype Hayes but here it’s just left to rot. The greens are the worst I’ve ever played. Winter and summer. This summer they look like they have been hacked at. Zero care. It’s not cheap either. Such a shame as it could be amazing if was looked after like other munis. I think of how well greens and courses like Warley Woods are looked after in comparison. Both munis but such stark contrast.
Greens are like volcanic craters!
The absurdly long rough has been improved I'm pleased to say, since last summer; however the greens are atrocious! They have the drainage holes, but no seeding or water seemingly applied and the dry weather has caused ruptures in the earth so you are literally putting on uneven crater-like MUD! Hardly any grass coverage to many greens - they simply aren't watering or seeding as often as needed, so your score is shot. Good puts bobble and jump over the craters, ruining your score. I struggled to get even a 48 on the back 9 - way more than my handicap.
Wouldn’t play again
Price always indicates what type of course you will play but I was in the area and gave it a try. Greens were terrible wouldn’t play again
