Woodland course
Being new to golf this course is perfect for me as it presents a good challenge, but is not daunting.
Playing here has really helped me with my distance judgement and club selection.
I fully intend to carry on using this course as long as it is available.
Deceptively tricky
Woodlands maybe ‘only’ be 9 holes, but small greens and tight fairways was a real challenge. Simple doesn’t equal easy!
Lovely course
Great facility’s
Spent some time on the range before 9 holes on the woodland course.
I got a deal at 9.99 per ball and it was worth considerably more.
Lovely facilities and very friendly people.
18 holes course appears to be kept to a higher standard but that doesn’t mean the 9 is poor. Great value for money and I will now play here regularly.
You Can't Mix Golf AND Football!
I've played the Valley course on a number of occasions. It's a very good course and has always been in reasonable condition.
This time I booked to play on the 9-hole Woodland course with my wife, who has just started playing. The layout was perfect for her. Sadly, the course was in really poor condition, particularly the greens. I'm sure a big reason for that is because there is a 'Footgolf' course which uses pretty much the same course.
The holes for the Footgolf are alongside the greens so people continually walk across the greens. They were in a really poor state.
I wouldn't use the Woodland course again and wouldn't recommend it.
Shame really. Compared to the Valley course, it's like chalk and cheese.
The facilties are otherwise great and the staff are super-friendly.
Excellent considering it’s February
Had the 9 hole Woodland course all to myself. Excellent practice facility, you can hit driver on a couple of holes. Needs better signage to point you to the next hole, I ended up zigzagging which was no problem as I was the only person there. For £10 this was great value, highly recommended.
Very poor value for money due course condition
Tees & fairways require a lot maintenance & greens still have Tyne holes from Spring maintenance, like putting on an egg box. Tees had matts on 5 holes all very poor, you have to use Castle tees, which I didn’t have any. I was really looking forward to the round, my first since replacement Hip. I would normally walked in, but as first round since Opp, felt I had to persevere.
Frustrated
Must over booked got to the 1st tee on time , and 4 groups of players waiting to get on ,, and it never got any better all the wat around
Frustrated
Over booked , got to 1st tea an there was a que of 4 sets of players ,
Ideal course for intermediate level, shame about the slow pace of 4 ladies infront, 15 minutes delayed, also the football golf is not ideal playing al
Ideal course for intermediate level, shame about the slow pace of 4 ladies infront, 15 minutes delayed, also the football golf is not ideal playing alongside, choose time correctly and you can't go wrong.
9 hole woodland course
Played here with my wife for 9 holes on the bank holiday morning.
Lovely little course for a quickie or beginner.
The staff very friendly with a great menu for food!
Had a really warm atmosphere in the clubhouse and very friendly staff and customers.
Will definitely make it a regular visit!
Thank you!
Poor drainage
The course is heavily waterlogged, to the extent that the balls sink into the ground. I would advise not to play this 9 hole woodland course until the drainage has been improved
Mis-sold
The course layout has changed from the advertised layout with more par 3s making it more of a pitch and put than a golf course. Greens also not maintained to advertised standard.
Disappointing
Visited this course 4 years ago and it was a nice 9 hole course. However on this visit could not tell you where the fairway was. When you hit a good drive and loose it middle of what we assume was a fairway that’s disappointing. Due to course changes to avoid driving range has four par threes less than 100yards. The short par 3’s probably wouldn’t have been irritating if the course was in the condition remembered. After coming out of lockdown last week very disappointing the fairways hadn’t been cut to an acceptable standard. Won’t be returning this time unfortunately.
Woodland course poor !
I found this course very poorly marked out and the condition of the greens was in a poor state of repair!
