Absolutely a shambles
We made a reservation to play the course and paid in full. We then turned up at the course to be told there has been a mistake on the system and we can’t play keeping in mind. We drive from over 20 miles away. Absolutely ridiculous. Do not make any reservations online as they cannot fulfil them.
Great Course. Tee's could be better
Very nice golf course with a few challenging holes especially the first 2 holes. The greens were in an excellent condition but the tee's were very dry ,hard and sandy. The club house has a nice seating area to have an after game drink or meal. I would definately be back for another round of golf here as it's great value for money.
Great course
The fairways were a bit patchy but overall a true test of golf Will visit again
Great course, unfriendly welcome
Turnt up To reception and mentioned we had 11am tee, only to be told abruptly “no we dont, GolfNow are always doing this” by the woman at reception. Thankfully it was sorted but when you have a reservation, surely its the Club’s responsibility to ensure if there is a competition that all possible avenues to book reflect that, rather than blaming a third party that if it causes as many issues as it was made out to be would be fixed or no longer available to book on.
Played 3 times and all three theres been an issue when we’ve arrived.
staff behind the bar/restaurant are friendly and lovely. Course is in good condition although bare patches throughout.
Seemingly groups jumping on in front without a tee time made for slowplay
Not a long course but good fun
Overall the course while not being long is great fun, lots of holes you dont need to take a driver so positional play more important.
Greens overall were fair in pace and generally in good condition, fairways due to dry weather were hard and fast.
Only on course moan would the amount of tees left strewn around the tee boxes, way too many golfers just pick them up !
Great value and staff were fantastic
Cranleigh GC
Overall great value for money. Greens recently punched so a little inconsistent but course conditions were very good. Will play again
Not great
Probably shouldn’t have expected much from a £32.50 round on a Sunday morning, however course was caked in mud. Hard to find grass to hit from. Very soft under foot even with 2 weeks of dry weather. Course is packed in to a small that’s too small for its own good, with some dangerous overlapping areas and greens in danger zones from other tee boxes. Cheap and cheerful but wouldn’t revisit
Poor in my opinion
Tee boxes in very poor condition, fairways are non existent can’t tell if it’s fairway or rough! Double tee boxes just not a very nice course! Greens were good and running well but there is much better courses for the same value.
Strange Layout, but alright course - hard to like though
Found it hard to 'get on' with the course. Although it's very short (seems to be par 3s all over the place) it's still not the easiest to score. There's multiple holes where you use an iron off the tee as due to doglegs etc. - you are somewhat forced to. I think I used my driver 3 times. Starting from the 3rd, you have strange things like trees in the middle of your approach to the green - so you either lay up with an iron over the trees, or aim straight for the green with a 3 wood. There's a few holes like this - strange placements of trees that made no sense and detracted from the hole. Hole 5 again has trees in the middle of the fairway so you need to lay up with an iron to allow you room to the green for the second shot. Hole 9 has a ditch and a dog leg, so you can either take a risky approach cutting the corner with OB on the right, or layup with a 8 iron. Just multiple holes that weren't that fun - short courses can be great when they give you a risk/reward for going for the green, but this didn't really do that well enough.
And while the course was in reasonable nick after some rain, the greens were slow (likely due to the rain, so fair enough) but the tee boxes were very beat up. Pretty slow round due to slow groups in front, but not terrible. Had to fix all of their pitch marks as well so more education on that would be great as it seems there's quite a few beginners on the course.
Excellent greens
Slow play did not help, we had to wait for our buggy so pushed back tee time. Not enough bins or places to put broken tees. Members certainly think they have more rights than visitors but a lovely course nonetheless. Cross over tees and more signage needed.
