First time at Dartmouth

This was my first visit to Dartmouth.

It was a little confusing at first to confirm my booking, as I was required to check in at the bar of the Lewisham, a very nice restaurant overlooking the course.

I didn't feel like I should be walking through in golfing attire.

I also left my Sand Wedge by the practice putting green, and was pleased to find that someone had stood it by the Golfing Academy building, and it was still there when I finished my round.

The course was very well maintained, and as a novice golfer (18 months) found it to be a good, challenging course.

I will certainly be back.

Hidden gem

Lovely course, tee boxes and greens in very good condition for this time of year.

Some fairways rather bare from the heat, could do with some TLC.

Fun layout, with holes crossing over each other, lots of twists turns and uphill/downhill shots.

No issue with pace of play until 9th hole, when I caught up with 2 x 2 balls, I was only playing 9 so not overly concerned.

The young restaurant staff were very polite, friendly and helpful prior to starting my round

Decent challenge

A few tough holes and plenty of hiking uphill. Enjoyed this course but the pace was super slow, possibly due to poor organisation. I booked online for 11:10 and there were two groups at the first tee at my time. I spent 50% of my round waiting for the people in front. Not sure if double booked but it was frustrating. Signage for some tees not great either, particularly the “back” 9. That said, a lovely setting and the greens were far superior to the Mytime owned courses I have played over the summer months. Would return but perhaps on a weekday.

Greens struggling

Been to this course a few times over the past month but visited last Friday and the greens were in pretty poor nick. Very slow and patchy for majority of holes.

good 9 hole course if your local for a practice round

booked via golf now, club shop was closed with nobody around, you walk past the club hut and tee boxes are ahead of you up the hill. Greenkeeper has done very well with the greens considering the amount you pay the course has soo much potential

Book a buggy or bring an electric cart as so hilly!

Myself and a pensioner pal played for the first time, not realising that it was a 9 hole course with a back 9 using differing tees. Some of the holes are not marked very well at all and the markers all have the hole number, but you can't even see them until you are over them as they are flat and not vertical. There are also NO MAPS on the back of the scorecards! Finally, it was a very very hilly course with some quite difficult terrain when carrying clubs. We were utterly exhausted.

Great staff and steady play

The Pro was very accommodating and organised left handed clubs for us. The round went smoothly and there was no slow play.

First time at Dartmouth Golf Club

A great course with different tee positions on the back 9 making it really interesting to play, well maintained greens and if it’s a hot and humid day, you’ve always got the option to stop off for a drink after you complete the 1st nine. Very friendly staff as well. The course is quite up and down and will certainly keep you fit but there are some great holes and the 9th is a good example of this.

Course had great potential but probably my first and last time here

Nobody around to book in with, clubhouse locked and no signposts to first tee, ended up asking another player who pointed me to the tee. Very hilly course but not bad condition, a few of the greens were a but sodden but playable. Got a good price to play 18 but ended up leaving after 9. Won't be in a rush to go back.

Not a bad course

For the money you can complain,

£15 for 18 is a bargain, nice course, fun challenging holes!

Needs to be a separate bar place for the golfers, walking through when people are eating isn’t the best. Specially when I smelt sour lol.
