The land that now provides a home to Quarry Golf Course was formerly the abandoned Alamo Cement plant. Keith Foster converted this unique location into a challenging layout with a links-style front nine and a back nine that plays entirely through an abandoned rock quarry with walls over a 100 feet tall on three sides. The first half of the golf course features plays through open fields of rolling hills with native grasses and a near absence of trees. Creeks and streams come into play on six holes of the front nine. The quarry pit on the back nine is truly the most unique feature on the golf course. Quarry Golf Course's most dramatic hole is the 17th, which requires a tee shot over a deep ravine that is framed by a 40-foot waterfall.

Excellent "Winter" condition

Got there early. Starter offered to get us out earlier, but we wanted practice. I went to the short game green, tried the sand. Hit a few chip shots. Found myself with the same shot I practiced on the course and drained it for a birdie. The speed of the practice green and the sand were consistent with the course. Nice conditions around and on the greens made for some nice birdies and more up and downs than usual. Friendly staff on a cold day, but we still had a blast. Thank you!

Great Course but slow pace

I've played the Quarry many times and I love everything about it, the staff is awesome, fairways and greens are always in great shape, (except for the divots and ball marks that people don't fill or repair). the only complain I have is that the pace of play is always very slow, marshall was trying to speed things up, but we still waited on every tee box and on every approach. Other than that it it a great course.

Great course but pricey

Played here few times before and I do enjoy playing here. I paired with people who hardly played any golf so we were playing military golf (left right, left right). One of the guy lost 12 balls on first 10 holes. Course is really good but I wish played with better group and bit faster.

I really enjoyed this course

It’s funny, after playing the Back 9 I almost have forgotten the Front 9!!...but I digress.

One of the things about this course, for me anyway, was I had to be very conscious of where my misses could be ok, put another way this is not a grip and rip course, you really need to focus on just about every shot. There were a number of risk/reward short Par 4’s and some killer long Par 4’s to test your long approach game.

I’m going to talk mostly about the Back 9, all situated in the Quarry. I found myself while driving to the 10th tee box and standing on the 10th tee surveying the entire Back 9 because it was all right there, laid out before my eyes. Before even teeing up on 10 I was already playing each of the holes in my mind WAY before even getting to them...and then once you get to them...the fun really begins! Take #`13 as an example with the huge gaping hole in the ground standing between you and the fairway which seemed miles away....how much am I going to bite off?!? (For the record, I only had 50 yards left so an easy flip wedge). And then the same type of situation on 17...if you play a cut you must start it out over the ravine, if you play a draw you better hope the ball draws or you’re up in the rocks through the fairway (which I was after hitting the dreaded straight ball) but another really fun hole. And 18 was a really good finishing hole with lots of rock and tree’s to the right and everything sloping to the junk on the left...lots of fun and a great hole to end the day...especially with the outdoor seating area of the restaurant and bar perched over the 18 green so there is a little added pressure of “spectators”, I loved it!

Great Golf Course in the heart of San Antonio

Amazing Service. Friendly and Professional Staff. The course was in great shape however the greens were slower than I expected. The weather was perfect the day we played. All and all, highly recommend playing this golf course.

Course review

The course was in really good condition other than the greens which they over seated but do not say anything when you make your tee time so the greens were extremely horrible as the grass was really thick on the greens which made them extremely slow and even bumpy.

I have played there many times that it is in great condition but they should just say something or give some kind of warning when you make a tee time.

Very unique course

Played this course for the first time and it was in awesome condition. Not the easiest course but had a blast. Our cart did breakdown on hole 5 and they put us in an old beat up cart but did put us back in a newer cart at the turn. Staff was great and would recommend to anyone.
