Improved......would play again

Gave up on this course last year as it was in an awful state. After hearing from a member it had improved we gave it ago. I am pleased to say it has improved, considerably. Greens generally very good. a little slow but true. Fairways like most courses have suffered from the jack of rain but honestly, still fine. Pick and place us used so no impact if you get a bad lie. Bunkers look okay but lack of sand is still an issue. Better raking would help.

Overall we enjoyed our round and will come back again.

Drayton Park Golf Club

The club has gone down hill over the last few years, pace of place was slow, greens are getting better but still a little poor. However a really good price for a knock about.

Well maintained, tough track

Despite the greens and fairways being well maintained this course was not enjoyable due to too many bookings on the course. We waited between 5 and 10 minutes on every tee box. The hazards are well laid out making this a tricky course to play. It's a real shame it took over 5 hours to get around.

Good course

Good course - greens in good shape, some interesting holes, I saw reviews that were less than complimentary about the state of the course and all I can say is that in late April the course was playing well.

Nice fairways, decent greens. Good variety of holes. Will play again and recommend others give it a go.

Challenging lay out. Decent / good quality.

Enjoyable round on a windy afternoon.

The course is a good challenge. Enjoyable mix of distances and some tough par 3’s. Course layout gets a little tight with a couple of holes sharing the a joined tee box and the green of another hole being very much hittable off of it. I think it’s the sort of course you’d need to play with a member to get a feel for what’s coming. Speaking of members not an overly friendly reception at the first tee from groups waiting to go out. (Not that this impacts my review).

Good track well worth a walk and fairly priced,

Worst ever

First time on course and also the last. Played on a lot of courses in Oxfordshire and surrounding counties and can honestly say that this is the worst course I’ve ever played. Greens are almost unplayable, fairways cut so low it’s hard to find some grass to pick and place your ball onto and half of the bunkers are covered in mud making them unplayable. They need a green keeper that has some idea what he’s doing.

Will definitely not be returning any time soon- feel ripped off.

Avoid if you want to putt

Without doubt apart from the odd crazy golf course I’ve played these were the worst greens I’ve ever played on. They had spiked them which was fine but left lumps of what looked like builders sand on them along with vehicle tracks as must have done them when it was much to wet! I can only say whoever did them was clueless and it’s a shame as course layout is good but when they have green staff who don’t care or have a clue it’s just not a course anyone should play - I complained but just got a ‘no comment’ in return which is rubbish customer experience just to top it off.

Awful condition....worst I've played this year

So disappointing. Greens are by far the worst I've seen. I only assume they don't have any green keepers. Fairways muddy, tyre tracks everywhere. Tees in an awful condition. I appreciate its that time of the year I can honestly say this course is by far the worst I've played this year.

The driving range is excellent and shop staff are really friendly but it feels like everyone is let down by the lack of care on the course. It's a same as it has the potential to be a very good venue. I hope it improves

Absolute Rubbish

Doesn't seem to be any recourse for the members who have to put up with this fast deteriorating course so decided to write a review with the hope the management will view this and do something about it. Where do I start:-

1 we have a head greenkeeper who does not know what he's doing, The greens have deteriorated to the point where they are becoming unplayable

2 we have a set of greenskeepers who obviously do not like getting off their mowers so any hand work or strimming is left untouched. the rough is left all summer between the holes when it used to be mowed which seriously slows the rate of play as more time is spent looking for balls.

3 The weeds around the clubhouse and carpark are a sight to behold together with the beer bottles and cans thrown under the hedges in the carpark. Greenkeeper cut the hedges this week which showed all the rubbish under the hedge which was left to make this entrance even worse.

4 The Bar looks like a halfway house bar with 2/3r/ds of it still closed off. since covid there has been no maintenance to the clubhouse and don't expect any food as a bacon butty is the sum total of the menu and please don't bring cash as you will not be able to use it.

5 The tees are another disgrace where the weeds outnumber the blades of grass by at least 2 -1 and don't expect to stand on a flat lie as you address the ball.

We were told a year ago when more green keepers were employed that we would have a course to be proud of but sadly that has not happened and I can't see it happening in the future. We have greenskeepers that have no idea, an apathetic management that does not play golf and so cannot see what needs doing around the course. I will be leaving this couse at the end of the year to go literally to any other course as this is undoubtedly the worse course in Oxfordshire and is an embarrassment to bring my friends to. The founder (Mick McKenna) would be turning in his grave if could see this course today.

Good Value

Have played numerous times before, always a tough test with many water hazards on front 9.

Greens were a little patchy in places but rolled ok. No complaints for hot deal price.

Gutted how poor it’s got

We’ve played this course the last few years and really enjoyed it, but today we rocked up, payed £38.50 each and wasn’t even informed that the greens had been top dressed/hollotined!!

Have seriously let this course go, rough hasn’t been cut in weeks, weeds surrounding the greens and actually on them aswell!!

Very disappointing and won’t be back unfortunately, not at those prices for poor greens!!

Nice surprise

Got a £25 deal which turned out to be really good value. Played off the white tees which make the course quite a bit longer on some holes. Course in good condition, no complaints. Some really tight holes, well designed and good use of the land available. Made a few strategic mistakes as it was the first time playing, fairways running out sooner than expected etc. One quirky but excellent hole, 9th, where we convinced ourselves we should be playing what turned out to be 11th! Interaction with other players on the course was really positive too.. it was easy to get disoriented between green and tee. Pro shop friendly, didn’t use any other facilities due to lack of time. Overall a really good day out. 😇
