SilverHorn Golf Club of Texas
About
Silverhorn Golf Club of Texas, located only 15 minutes from San Antonio's Riverwalk, has quickly gained a reputation as being some of the best golf in Texas. The layout covers 262 scenic acres of rolling hills covered in mature oaks and cedar trees. The challenging golf course features tree-lined fairways and carefully contoured greens. There are also lakes and creeks, both dry and wet, coming into play throughout the golf course. The front nine's signature hole is the par-5 sixth, which has 20 acres of water bordering the entire left side, while the back nine's signature is the par-4 15th, which is considered the toughest hole on the golf course. This 446-yard hole features an elevated green that is guarded by a large bunker on the left and two creeks crossing the fairway.

Great Course - Needs Water
The course was in great shape. The only downside was that there wasn’t a drop of water on the course. Not a single water bucket or fountain. Even the ball washers were missing. This is 2022 - not 2020. It was really hot out there, and we know that COVID is not going to be transmitted through a water bucket. Plus, we could touch the flagsticks and rakes all day long.
Good Course - Need Water!
The course was in good shape with only a few wet/muddy areas. The big problem was a total lack of water on the course. This is 2022 - not 2020. Why were there no water buckets? Even the ball washers were missing. It was hot, and our group was dying out there! Makes no sense at all.
Surprisingly Good
Silverhorn is in surprsingly good shape for the middle of a drought. The putting surfaces are uniform and well kept. Greens are medium speed, not shaggy like many courses. Bunkers are in good shape with no real shallow spots. The pace of play was about 4:10. Range was mats only, my biggest complaint. Overall, this course was a surprise if you haven't played it. Make sure, if you are a first timer, that you get advice on tee shots, as it is easy to go through the fairways or hit it into the wrong spot, as many holes have smallish landing areas and tricky angles for the tee shots and into the greens. No water jugs on the golf course, but there is a drink cart which came by three times.
Good course!
Great course, lots of deer and wildlife around to enjoy!

Silverhorn is Dry
I like the course overall but they really need some ball washers, water on the course to drink, and need to water greens more the were hard as a rock very hard to hold. Also my experience with their carts has been bad,.with brakes not locking and steering issue. Fix a few things and the course would be one of the nicer courses in the San Antonio area.

Very good Silverhorne
It is a good golf course and everyone is always nice. It could be great if it wasn't almost always muddy in several places. A few French drains could solve the problem. A couple of bathroom facilities in the course would be great also, specially for the ladies.

Good course. Ultra poor amenities and management
Suggest you pass this course by on your next trip to San Antonio. Expensive with no on course amenities. Gentleman who checked us in, I think his name was Russ, was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately had to practically beg for a scorecard and pencil which were not on the nasty golf carts we were given. Brakes wouldn't hold on the cart, cart had to be replaced as the battery ran out on Hole #5, windshield was broken and there was no hole placement card in the cart. Had to guess on pin placement. Big surprises on the golf course: No water on the course, no ball washers, and filthy portable johns that had no hand sanitizer. Sand traps had course, wet sand (water in some of them) almost impossible to hit out of. Greens good, fairways looking good. Rough is not maintained. Fallen limbs everywhere and strange plants growing at the edge of the trees and first cut of rough. When we went in for a beer after play, wait staff was good and asked Russ why no water or ball washers on course. He said something about Covid. Every other course we played in San Antonio had water and washers, plus top notch carts with GPS systems. Obvioiusly who ever manages this course is only interested in their bottom dollar and not the customer.
