Canyon Springs Golf Club is a true Hill Country course. You need to stay on the fairways or bring plenty of balls. Using an old farm to build on this choice piece of Texas real estate, this land has been artfully transformed into what many golfers will refer to as among the very best of what Texas has to offer. With five sets of tee boxes on each hole, demanding greens, natural Hill Country surroundings and magnificent limestone waterfalls on two holes, this 7,000-plus-yard course presents a significant challenge to event the most experienced golfers (and even those who think they are).

Canyon springs review
Course in so so shape greens recently sanded would’ve been nice to know
Firm Greens
The course was in pretty good shape for late January., I played some other courses in the area and it was one of the better ones. My only complaint is the greens are super firm but they are new and not much you can do about that. They had some rain so you couldn’t bounce them on because they would stop. I had several shots that hit the front of the green and ended up in the junk over the green.
All said and done a few dry days where the approach is dry, shots can be made.
Still worth playing.
Winter colors
Canyon Springs looks beautiful this time of year. The contrasted fairways with the rough looks so good right now. Greens were fast, very fast. Hard still with the newness, but very nice surfaces to play on. Great round on a nice course.
Greens are baffling...
I know the greens were redone this past summer and it’s clear that they are still young. Well placed approach shots with spin do not hold...at all. To compound the challenge, all areas in front and around greens are very wet so playing shots short to roll up to the greens don’t work either. Expect at least 5 more strokes per round as a result. Otherwise the layout is fantastic and fairways are in good shape.
Bring a book to read lol
I never played this course bc I heard pace of play was slow. Finally gave it a shot and exactly as advertised—round took 5 hrs 15 min. Tee’d off at 12:30pm just finished before dark. Nice course but I wont be coming back with the pace constantly slow its the worst
