Canyon Springs Golf Club is a true Hill Country course. You need to stay on the fairways or bring plenty of balls. Using an old farm to build on this choice piece of Texas real estate, this land has been artfully transformed into what many golfers will refer to as among the very best of what Texas has to offer. With five sets of tee boxes on each hole, demanding greens, natural Hill Country surroundings and magnificent limestone waterfalls on two holes, this 7,000-plus-yard course presents a significant challenge to event the most experienced golfers (and even those who think they are).

Excellent course but slowww.

Sunday was the most packed I've ever seen this course. It would be nice to have one or two of the staff, Marshall out on the course and enforce an approx. 15 min/hole time limit or a double bogey limit. It was a hackers parade all day long. I literally watched one guy ahead of me take 10 strokes on one hole, effectively 1 stroke every 40 yards on a par 4. After 3.5 hours and 14 holes complete of slow motion golf, I couldn't bare to sit and wait for 2 more groups to tee off on 15. So I just left. I will play the course again but I will find a better Sunday spot.

Slow but a nice layout

Pace was slow, course was in winter condition but not awful. Greens were good with the exception of maybe 2 , could be a very nice course in the summer months.

Always nice

Canyon Springs is always one of the better courses in the city. Conditioning is always 4-5 stars and today was no different. Greens aren’t lightening fast, but are more than adequate given the slopes. Fairways are looking good and the dormant rough hasn’t started turning just yet. Just a beauty of a hill country course on a gorgeous day. I walked the course. It’s walkable, but only for the truly dedicated. A few walks from hole to hole are, well, LONG! 9-10 and 14-15 are hikes, be prepared. I’d suggest a cart the first time playing, for certain. The course got a little crowded toward the back nine. It’s normal to run up on a 4some or two here playing a little slow even as a walker. Still played in exactly 4 hours so 12:40-4:40. 10 is one of the best tee shots in the hill country. I’d suggest adding this course to any trip. If you live in the city and haven’t played it, you should. It’s good!

The greens are much better now

Although the greens are much better there are a couple of them that show signs of trouble again.

Not a bad course, I think we were in the off season. Could use some hole markers and direction from the 18th to club house, nothing there.

Great outing!

First time playing this course and it was a tremendous experience. The course is very challenging, but fun to play! The fairways are quite narrow and it is a must that you find the fairways! The staff, Chris, was excellent and guided me along in a very professional manner. Look forward to playing again!

Holiday Golf

We teed off at least 45 minutes after our scheduled tee time, unable to complete our round. All of the staff were great. Course conditions were ok, normal Texas hill country Winter conditions. I will try and play again when in San Antonio area.

San Antonio great value golf

Although we played in the dormant season for the fairway grass, we had a great experience with the course. So many great golf values in the San Antonio area and Canyon Springs is one of them. A great course for the price!

Fabulous Course with many amenities

Canyon springs golf course has lots to offer for the beginners and for seasoned players. A Thomas Walker design course has subtle rolling hills that offer great elevations and views. Greens and fairways are matricules cared for. It’s truly a south Texas gem. Hole 18 Par 4 - 400 yards to the tips gives way to waterfall back drop behind the 18th green and is used constantly for weddings. Excellent Golf experience!

All around greatness

Golfed here for the first time and despite having the most awkward strangers to golf with, I still very well enjoyed my round. I shot a 104, I usually shoot in the mid 90's but this course offers a good challenge.

Fall Waterfalls

Canyon Springs ends the day with a beautiful waterfall that highlights the course’s Fall beauty. Place would have a hard time looking much better. The greens are rolling wonderfully. The fairways have came in nice vs the Fall dormant rough. All bunkers are sanded and look great. The tee boxes look good for the amount of play the place gets. What a wonderful evening round of Fall golf. If playing soon, go play here and enjoy.

Delayed start and slow play

My tee time for 1:24 pm was delayed 30 minutes and the play was very slow 2.5 hours for nine holes. The group behind us hit into us twice.
