Canyon Springs Golf Club
About
Canyon Springs Golf Club is a true Hill Country course. You need to stay on the fairways or bring plenty of balls. Using an old farm to build on this choice piece of Texas real estate, this land has been artfully transformed into what many golfers will refer to as among the very best of what Texas has to offer. With five sets of tee boxes on each hole, demanding greens, natural Hill Country surroundings and magnificent limestone waterfalls on two holes, this 7,000-plus-yard course presents a significant challenge to event the most experienced golfers (and even those who think they are).

This is a really nice course some easy holes some average hose and some hard or holes. Great features
Had a really good time at the course playing. Course was in amazing shape for all the heat that we’ve been having. Love the layout. Would not mind playing there again pretty soon here coming up. Had a great time
Pleasant surprise
Chose to play an evening round at Canyon Springs and what a pleasant surprise. Very glad that I did. The course was in excellent condition. I don’t think I’ve seen the greens this good here in the 2 years I’ve been in San Antonio. The entire course looked great. Bunkers were sanded, fairways were and rough were groomed. Just simply excellent. I didn’t run into one group on my evening round. Started at 4;30 finished at 7:35 next to the waterfall. I had heard they had green trouble earlier in the season, but will choose to play here as much as I can the remainder of the year. Excellent course. Go and enjoy.
Quiet on the edge of the city
Who doesn’t love a golf course that has Longhorns greeting you as you approach the practice area and first tee. Pure Texas! This course is in great shape and has plenty to keep you thinking and challenged but is comfortable to play for the average golfer. Although the fairways are often lined by homes, there is a sense of serenity and a country feel as you pass old structures from when this land was a ranch. The pace of play is steady and the whitetail deer will calmly observe you throughout your round. Check out this lovely green jewel on the edge of San Antonio. You will find it well forth your while.
Top of Our List for San Antonio Golf
Staff was extremely friendly and not in an annoying brown nose way! The stone buildings and look of an old ranch was very cool. Even have a couple of Longhorn cattle and waterfalls! Photo Ops! Other than a few blind shots the course is a good layout. Get a yardage book. Fun to play. 16 of the 18 holes were in great shape, especially for mid July in south Texas! We will go there every San Antonio trip!
Had strange experience on hole # 7 the par 3. Two young boys cut in front of us when we were on the tee box and were using handcarts. They were not supposed to be on the course since carts are required. They obstructed our play for the next 3 holes and caused everyone to get held up. We contacted the marshall twice to get them off the course but he didn't show up until 9th green . Too late to fix problem. It was so disruptive it ruined our front nine.
Canyon Springs Fun
Really enjoyed my first time at Canyon Springs, heard about it from a playing partner earlier this year, saw the Golf Now Special and had to play.
Beautiful course and layout, not very long but exacting shots required.
Great day of golf.
Always a good day at Canyon Springs.
I play at this course about 3 times a month. Good to see the greens coming back, this due to some maintenance however all else was great! Pro shop staff very accommendating and flexible when needed. The bar/restaurant always my favorite, beers are always Absolutely Cold and Mary Always takes great care of us. One thing that sometimes is a surprise is the bar closes early, on my last visit the bar closed at 3PM.
Yardage markers?????
Lack of yardage markers none on t boxes no gps not really worth full price admission
The greens were not in good shape and I’m disappointed that there are no onboard GPS systems.
Greens are in bad shape
I played in a tournament here a couple of weeks ago. This used to be a top rated course in San Antonio, however that’s no longer the case. Two major complaints: the greens are in horrible shape and the golf cart ran out of battery leaving stranded with two holes to go. The staff claimed that the greens were attacked by some fungus so they had to repatch most of them and in some case there wasn’t even grass on some parts. My recommendation, don’t play here until the greens are back to good shape.
Greens need work
Course overall was not in bad shape but a lot of the greens were. A number of greens were patched and under repair. Would have expected cheaper fees considering the disrepair or at least a warning.
Canyon springs
Greens were in poor shape many of which had patches that were under repair, but at least they had taken steps to try to rectify the situation. However, for the price of green fees, I would be reluctant to return unless course conditions were better.
The greens were almost not playable. We took a group of 10 players for a tournament. We called the course a couple of days before our tournament and asked for the course condition. We were told there might be a couple of greens with brown spots, but were playable. That was not true at all, There was only a couple of greens that were not damaged. One green had half roped off and re-sodded and not playable. Don't have a problem with the green conditions. A huge problem with being misled about their condition. They Just wanted to get our money and didn't care about anything else.
Greens in very poor shape
The fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. The greens are in very poor shape I assume from the freezes.
Terrible greens
This is overall a nice course, but the greens are always in bad conditions, and keep getting worse, it's a shame because the rest of the course is in good shape.
