Canyon Springs Golf Club
About
Canyon Springs Golf Club is a true Hill Country course. You need to stay on the fairways or bring plenty of balls. Using an old farm to build on this choice piece of Texas real estate, this land has been artfully transformed into what many golfers will refer to as among the very best of what Texas has to offer. With five sets of tee boxes on each hole, demanding greens, natural Hill Country surroundings and magnificent limestone waterfalls on two holes, this 7,000-plus-yard course presents a significant challenge to event the most experienced golfers (and even those who think they are).

canyon
great course, that I've played quite a few times. sometimes it can be a bit slow on the weekend, but not many top courses are going to be much different.
Want to come back
Challenging course, quite a few carries from tee box, so you better have your "A" game on for this course.
Also some LONG par 4's. But its a course that you know if you play more , you have room to improve.
Crowded Day
It was very crowded here on a Thursday afternoon. I was surprised. A 5 hour round, including a 2:45 minute front 9. Course was in great shape. Tight in spots. There are quite a few short Par 4s out there to be had if you can hit a good wedge in. Overall, greens were rolling quickly and the fairways were in good shape. It was just a slow pace.
Course condition
The course is in great shape. I come and play here every chance I get when I'm in town. Very challenging course.
Decent course/ Counter guy and food... not so much
I had a confirmation# for the counter guy but was told I was not in the system. Evidently the burden was on me to contact Golfnow and work this out. I called the nice lady at Golfnow and she was confused much like me. Meanwhile, my buddies waited patiently. I eventually handed my personal cell phone to the counter guy and he agreed with the Golfnow lady to let me pay in person and Golfnow would cancel my origianl pym't. The starter was nice and the course decent.. a little overpriced. The hotdog at the turn was a mushy substance that somehow kept it's form. The marshall gave us a look when we reminded him there was no water in the # 10 cooler. Oh, well.... Bad experience but I'm sure it won't happen again. I won't return.
Like Canyon Golf
Like this course. Orlando in the golf shop is a very nice guy.
Very nice course
This course is always in good shape and challenging giving every golfer a good test.
Welcome back
First time in about 15 years to play here. Had a good time. Still very challenging! Will be back.
Always enjoy the greens
Even with some sand on them, the greens were fast and smooth. Great condition considering the drought. Always enjoy it there, look forward to next time.
Rocky
Slow but good course
They need a starter and a ranger! Course is fun and a good layout.
Don't hit it into the bull pen
I played this course twice during my trip to San Antonio and both times I enjoyed this course the best of the courses I played. The course was again in great shape and I was very pleased I almost broke into the 80's.
Our first time playing we didn't have time hit the range and I put my drive into the bull pen off the first tee. Truly an epic fail on my part but I finding it next to one of the big Steers will make a life long golf story.
Thanks again.
Secret Geem
From the tips it plays over 7000 yards, I played the Black 6500 yards. This course makes you think about your shot on number 6 it is a split fairway be mindful of why the pin is you could make this hole longer. the greens were in great shape.
Great!
Really enjoyable and a little deceptive. There's typically more landing room in the fairway than it appears. Most greens were
large and rolled true. Missed fairways can be penal. Great pace of play. Lots of deer on the course and the Longhorns by the club house are a nice touch.
Best public course in San Antonio
Great course, no issues with pace of play & beautiful weather!
Very nice layout offering a nice challenge from longer tees.
The course is always in great condition and offeers a nice challenge from the Black and Gold tees. There was some sort of Tournament going on on Sunday (August 8th) and everyone was teeing off #10. As a single, I thought I was doomed. The starter was kind enough to check his GPS and let me go off #1. It turned out to be clear sailing and a nice round of golf on a hot summer day.
Slow play
it took 5 hrs to play. Was not monitored. I really like the layout. Nice course. I will probably not play it anymore.
Amazing place
Always love playing here. Can be packed at times but course is always in the best shape possible. Worth every penny.
This course was in good shape.
Pretty difficult from the tips. Most holes required a 150 to 200 yd carry to reach the fairway.
Very Nice Course
I had a very nice day at this course. It started at the front counter. Mike was the staffer at the counter. I have never played the course before and Mike was so helpful explaining the nuances of the course. I played by myself so that helped. He couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The course itself was in good shape overall. There were a few holes that required some carry over obstacles but I thought the fairways were wide and easy enough to hit. The sand in the bunkers was like the pros get. It was fluffy, soft and deep. So many courses have pretty bad bunkers, not the case here. I didn't give it a five star rating because the greens had been punched that morning. Smaller tines were used so it wasn't like core aeration but still small holes in the greens. I would really rate the course a 4.5 if there were such a rating. Not having played the course before it was a little bit of a challenge to figure out where to land your shot on some holes. However, that made it fun too. It was a hot day but the fairways seemed to be watered fairly well. When I got back to the pro shop after my round Joe was working the counter. He was as nice as Mike was that morning. Friendly staff rates pretty high in my book. They have a little refreshment/snack hut between holes nine and ten. I stopped in before starting the back nine to get a beer. The girl working the place couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I grabbed a beer and she was nice enough to refill my water bottle without trying to make me buy another bottle. And she wouldn't let me leave without a cup of ice for the water since it was so hot outside. I stopped in the "Cliffhaus" restaurant after my round for a beverage and it was happy hour. The bartender that waited on me, Ryan, was as nice as the others that I dealt with that day. I was there after 5:30 and the kitchen was closed so no food. It was clean and orderly but only two beers on tap but enough others to satisfy anyone. So if it's golf you want, this is a place to play.
Pace of play was great
Conditions were great. Greens were in prefect shape. Putts ran true. We played as a twosome and ran into a slower group and they let us play thru.
