About
Canyon Springs Golf Club is a true Hill Country course. You need to stay on the fairways or bring plenty of balls. Using an old farm to build on this choice piece of Texas real estate, this land has been artfully transformed into what many golfers will refer to as among the very best of what Texas has to offer. With five sets of tee boxes on each hole, demanding greens, natural Hill Country surroundings and magnificent limestone waterfalls on two holes, this 7,000-plus-yard course presents a significant challenge to event the most experienced golfers (and even those who think they are).

Golfer Reviews
Very nice layout offering a nice challenge from longer tees.
The course is always in great condition and offeers a nice challenge from the Black and Gold tees. There was some sort of Tournament going on on Sunday (August 8th) and everyone was teeing off #10. As a single, I thought I was doomed. The starter was kind enough to check his GPS and let me go off #1. It turned out to be clear sailing and a nice round of golf on a hot summer day.
Slow play
it took 5 hrs to play. Was not monitored. I really like the layout. Nice course. I will probably not play it anymore.
Amazing place
Always love playing here. Can be packed at times but course is always in the best shape possible. Worth every penny.
This course was in good shape.
Pretty difficult from the tips. Most holes required a 150 to 200 yd carry to reach the fairway.
Very Nice Course
I had a very nice day at this course. It started at the front counter. Mike was the staffer at the counter. I have never played the course before and Mike was so helpful explaining the nuances of the course. I played by myself so that helped. He couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The course itself was in good shape overall. There were a few holes that required some carry over obstacles but I thought the fairways were wide and easy enough to hit. The sand in the bunkers was like the pros get. It was fluffy, soft and deep. So many courses have pretty bad bunkers, not the case here. I didn't give it a five star rating because the greens had been punched that morning. Smaller tines were used so it wasn't like core aeration but still small holes in the greens. I would really rate the course a 4.5 if there were such a rating. Not having played the course before it was a little bit of a challenge to figure out where to land your shot on some holes. However, that made it fun too. It was a hot day but the fairways seemed to be watered fairly well. When I got back to the pro shop after my round Joe was working the counter. He was as nice as Mike was that morning. Friendly staff rates pretty high in my book. They have a little refreshment/snack hut between holes nine and ten. I stopped in before starting the back nine to get a beer. The girl working the place couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I grabbed a beer and she was nice enough to refill my water bottle without trying to make me buy another bottle. And she wouldn't let me leave without a cup of ice for the water since it was so hot outside. I stopped in the "Cliffhaus" restaurant after my round for a beverage and it was happy hour. The bartender that waited on me, Ryan, was as nice as the others that I dealt with that day. I was there after 5:30 and the kitchen was closed so no food. It was clean and orderly but only two beers on tap but enough others to satisfy anyone. So if it's golf you want, this is a place to play.
Pace of play was great
Conditions were great. Greens were in prefect shape. Putts ran true. We played as a twosome and ran into a slower group and they let us play thru.
Rough and tough
The course was in beautiful condition with lush fairways and smooth greens. The rough - and there is plenty of it - was 30 inches high and thick. Forced carries and blind shots combined with extensive tall rough make this an extremely difficult course.
Great course and better value
Course was in great condition, however there we a lot of ball marks and spike marks that were not repaired on the greens. Overall, this is a great course. Definitely in my top 5 in San Antonio.
Great Course
With all the rain we have been getter my over the last month I thought it may be a little rough. The course was in excellent shape all throughout. Well done to the grounds keepers!
Quality course
Canyon Springs is a pleasure to play. It's an interesting design and is in good condition. Great mix of holes. Well managed. Everyone from pro to cart girl is friendly and helpful. Superior golf experience without pretense.
Great best course layout
You must see there Canyon Springs golf course
There have more challenge try beat on that course different layout.
Someday future will come back play again at San Antonio.
Great layout
Plays on the early AM and pace of play was good. That is until I hit the 14th fairway and there were kids all over the fairway. Not sure why they were there. Probably some golf school. Anyway, I played thru them, then hit another group on 15. Afraid I was going to hit them because they did not move. On 16 the kids just stood on the middle of the fairway and did not let me play thru. Skipped the hole and went on. Too bad this happenedd because up" til then, it was a really enjoyable round. I would play here again, but only if the kids were not on the course.
Very good variety of holes with both shotmaking and distance importancr
Course in good condition after a couple weeks of rainy conditions. Greens were a little bumpy and slow. All personnel especially the pro shop were very friendly
Only downside
Only complaint was the golf carts. They were very old and in bad shape.
Going the wrong way :(
I have been playing this course for many years.. It is starting to go the wrong way.. The course is in the worst shape I have ever seen.. The greens are getting pretty bad and its really sad because they were once some of the best in San Antonio.. They decided to screw up the tee boxes also by taking away a tee box.. They went from four tee box choices to just three and this makes some of the holes too long for average players.. Weeds are also starting to pop up in bad spots.. I live close and I wont be going back anytime soon.. I think this course is going downhill now.. I hope they turn it around..
PUT A HOLE IN THE FAIRWAY
THE FAIRWAYS WERE GREAT BUT THE GREENS WERE
NOT GOOD. WHAT IS GOING ON. DID NOT KNOW
YOU SAND AND AERATE THE GREENS IN MAY.
LOVE THE COURSE BUT WAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED IN THE GREENS.
This course can play long from the tips
Good tee boxes and fairways. The greens we slow for the most part. Probably hard to keep up with due to all the rain. This course needs to install ball washers on the golf carts as there are no on course ball washers. It would be a nice and cheap addition.

Awesome course and the service was excellent.
Even with all of the recent rain the course was in great condition.
I will definitely play there again.
