Canyon Springs Golf Club is a true Hill Country course. You need to stay on the fairways or bring plenty of balls. Using an old farm to build on this choice piece of Texas real estate, this land has been artfully transformed into what many golfers will refer to as among the very best of what Texas has to offer. With five sets of tee boxes on each hole, demanding greens, natural Hill Country surroundings and magnificent limestone waterfalls on two holes, this 7,000-plus-yard course presents a significant challenge to event the most experienced golfers (and even those who think they are).

Great day on a fine golf course.

I am not sure you will find friendlier people running a golf course - from the gentlemen at the bag drop, in the pro shop, the starter and marshal were all welcoming and terrific. Two Texas longhorns show you the way to the first tee! My friend and I were paired with a terrific couple (Bruce / Jan) and we had a great round. The course was very playable, some tough holes, some nice risk / reward holes. The greens were in excellent shape and for a late February day the overall course was in good shape. I recommend this course.

Interesting layout

The course was in good shape for being in winter. Layout is challenging and playable at the same time. The blind drive on #2 requires you to drive forward to see the best landing spot/line.

Fun course to play

Lots of blind shots and challenging pin placement made for a great day of golf. It was busy but we got out a little early. Pace was slow and we had to wait at almost every tee box.

Great Course! ... Great Value!

I have played this course over a dozen times in the last year. It is always well maintained, and the staff is excellent. The greens are bent grass which makes for some slippery putts. The course has several unique features with elevated tee boxes, and undulated greens. Course management is a must, as there are fairway bunkers, and thick rough throughout. This course will challenge all levels and the price is right!

Course was challenging but fair. Fairways and greens very good.

The course was challenging but fair. The front nine more so than the back nine. Playing the course for the first time without local knowledge mad the course play more difficult. Sloping fairways and undulating greens made the course challenging. Fairways and greens were in very good condition and the pro shop personnel were very friendly. Also the green fees were reasonably priced.

Can't wait to play here again!

It forgives you for errant shots but challenges you to get up and down. If your score isn't up to par, then just enjoy the scenery.

Beautiful scenery

The lack of course marshall and starter on the weekend makes pace of play very slow. Should be able to play this course in 4 hours but it took us 5 hours.

The course has some challenging holes espeacially around the greens. Some nice vista along the way.

This was my first time to play at this course. I was teamed up with someone who plays the course often. It was great playing golf with this individual who gave me some good pointers along the way. The staff I came in contact with where all helpful. I came across deer several times while playing that added to the ambiance of a wonderful day of golf in the hill country.

Great course for a nice challenging day.

We had an excellent time here. Initially it seemed as if it would be packed but once we got through 3 it was like having the course to ourselves. The pace was perfect for our foursome. Course in great shape and has some fun yet challenging holes. The staff was excellent. Our only critique was that the driving range was so crowded we couldn't warm up before heading out.

Great course!

This is a very fun Texas Hill Country Course--challenging but fair with lots of very interesting holes. Even in winter the greens roll well and true. Some of the holes are reminiscent of Scottish links courses, with gorse-like rough. I was surprised that the starter sent us out as a fivesome. That contributed to the slower pace of play, no doubt.

Very slow, greens were brown and unfriendly staff!

The greens were brown due to not overseeding and saving money, the pace of play was very slow, as there were no marshalls on the course. Once I made the turn, I found that the pro shop had allowed multiple groups to go off the back making my second nine go even slower than the front nine. Last, people who live along the course are alloweed to hit shots on the course and parage around it like it was a park. Many times I was delayed to keep from possibly hitting someone that had crossed my line of pllay. It was a waste of my money!

Decent weekend winter price and course conditions

Not bad for cold winter conditions - 30 min frost delay. Many pins were in silly positions- but may have been on high spots after a previous rain.

This course is one of the best in San Antonio

This course was in very good shape even for the winter time. The greens roll true and are hard to read. From the tips there are some drivable par 4s and then par 4s with long irons to the green after a long drive. I play this course more often than any other in San Antonio. Great value each time I play.

Hole #18 is amazing.

The course was in great shape. The pace of play was great due to a little bit of rain. The rain stopped and the weather was excellent. Because it rained the waterfall on 18 was very nice.

GOOD VALUE GOLF EXPERIENCE

I'd forgotten that I'd played this course with a group several years ago. It's a pretty good value and conditions are good to very good. I played it on a Sunday morning and the greens were slow and somewhat non-receptive (although in good condition). Had trouble getting the ball to the hole but I'd just been playing in the southeast on 11-12 stimp greens and that could have been a factor. It's a great facility with a friendly staff. And, once you get by the apartments on number 2, no houses really come in to play. Some nice terrain changes, but not severe. Shot just above my handicap (mainly due to putting, as above).
