Canyon Springs Golf Club is a true Hill Country course. You need to stay on the fairways or bring plenty of balls. Using an old farm to build on this choice piece of Texas real estate, this land has been artfully transformed into what many golfers will refer to as among the very best of what Texas has to offer. With five sets of tee boxes on each hole, demanding greens, natural Hill Country surroundings and magnificent limestone waterfalls on two holes, this 7,000-plus-yard course presents a significant challenge to event the most experienced golfers (and even those who think they are).

One of the truely nicest courses in San Antonio.

Despite the inclement weather we enjoyed playing this course. It was challenging, pristine and in a very senic area.

Good course, long wait

The course/facilities are in good shape. Definitely worth the GolfNow bargain. If you play on a weekend though, be ready for a long round. The course is in high demand and tee times are scheduled pretty close together.

Always a great course

Great round, friendly staff, well maintained. Pace of play should have been a little faster. I really like the improvements they have made to the course. It opened up some of the really tight fairways giving you more options off the tee. Really nice around greens allowing for more aggressive approach shots also. The greens were slow but due to a recent rain the night before. Greens were challenging but in great shape. I play this course often and will continue to do so.

Nice course and well maintained. But pace of play painfully slow!

Went back to play after long absence. Still love the course layout and course conditions. Good price and early afternoon tee time thru GolfNow made me happy. However, 6 hr round left me frustrated and disappointed.

Course in good shape but the pace of play was awful

Had a group in front of us that was reading the greens like they were at the Masters. Frustrating as they were slowing everyone down and the marshall doesn't appear to have any authority to do anything about it. The entire course was packed.

Poor Service

Played here Saturday and Sunday. Both rounds were 5 hours long. Sunday the lady at the front desk was extremely rude and her excuse for everything we asked was "we do not currently have the man power for that." She alone is a reason I would not play this course again. We had to wait for the carts to be turned because they ran out. We tried to warm up, but all of the range balls were out. We had a foursome and they added another player to our group to make a 5-some. What?? 5-somes on a Sunday? Group in front of us ran their cart into a bunker and we waited on every hole for them to hit and we never saw another group in front of them, but the marshal never make them speed their pace of play up. I've played here many times and this was by far the worst. I won't ever get this Sunday back.

Hilly, up and down variations, tough but fair. A very well thought out course.

I played this course about 10 years ago and it immediately became one of my favorite U S courses. It has deterioated to some degree but a good spring housecleaning would probably bring it back to, in my opinion, the best course in the San Antonio area and I have played alot of the so-called "primo" courses there.

Excellent golf for what I paid in a very pleasant environment.

Course was set up to play much shorter than advertised. First time here for me in many years. Course has matured a great deal. Collars and fringes around the greens cut very short. I found myself putting the ball even when 10 or 12 feet off the green. I am not a fan of the dye on the greens but it does make for a pretty picture. I will be back.

Transition?

well known to me, great layout...bunkers undergoing redo and many still unfinished with shallow watered sand despite rennovation starting last summer (new sand too fine? Blowing away?) greens slowest ive seen them, typically 9-11 and true...think i caught them in a transition period? Hoping to find this course up to its potential nxt time

Great lay out

This has always been one of my favorite courses. Accurate iron play is a must. Pin placement can make the course extremely tough, but it always seems to have a good blend of risk & reward.

Great course, needs better marshalling

I like playing this course with the exception of the pace of play. 4h30m is the minimum time you will make it through a round. For someone who comes from out of town to play here, it just takes too long to make it through 18.

Great for the money spent

It has been 5 years since I last played this course. It is still in great shape and has matured well. They have done a great job keeping the houses away from the course so you dont feel crowded. Greens were fast and there were a few places in the fairways that were very wet. Stay in the short grass, since the natural areas are non-playable.

Slow play on slightly above average course

The course was slightly above average in difficulty and conditioning; however, the pace of play was terrible and the carts drove like an accident waiting to happen. The course played shorter than the card indicated. The greens were above average but fairly flat. Might play the course again but for the slow play. 4 3/4 hour pace of play is too slow. The goal is a 4.5 hour round so I doubt the pace of play is ever appropriate. Never saw a marshall. Cart girl left early; we only saw her once despite specifically asking if she would be around again.
