Narrow tree-lined fairways and a creek which you often encounter make Lackland AFB's Gateway Hills Golf Course a fun round. The ninth hole, playing up a steep hill is a real experience as is the elevated green on 18. If you have a friend who is in the military and can get on, Gateway Hills Golf Course a worthwhile option with well manicured greens.
Gateway Hills Golf Course is laid out on 200 acres featuring extreme elevation changes overlooking San Antonio. The golf course meanders 6,900 yards from the back tees with many strategically located bunkers and a host of oak and mesquite trees. Slow
Slow is the name of the game. Granted, I was a single but no one seemed to notice me waiting on every shot. Quit after 11 holes. Couldn’t wait anymore
Decent rounds
I play here often. The only negative is that every once in a while you get groups of inexperienced players who aren’t well versed on course etiquette and won’t allow singles like me to play through. Not a big deal as I am able to go around, but keep that in mind when playing here
Green
The course was in great shape a little more sand in the bunkers but the greens were awesome and the fairways were in good shape .
No Justice
No fair that you cannot refund a hot deal and 1 player out of 4 cannot make it because of a medical issue The course or app should allow you to modify.
Fast round.
Ground was damp. Greens were smooth. Friendly golfers allowed me to play through. Fairways were wide and rough not to high, so ball were easily found.
Military Golf
Hadn’t played here in at least 20 years. Always remember the hills and the course conditions were always pretty good. Currently the course isn’t in really good shape. The greens were very very slow and the back nine had been punched and sanded the week before. Fairways were ok and most t boxes needed mowing. Overall had fun except for the twosome in front of us which one was giving lessons to the other who managed about 20 to 30 yards per shot and refused to allow anyone to pass even when present at the t box at the same time with them. The course layout is pretty neat with the extremely elevated tees and all of the elevation changes. The guy in the pro shop was fantastic and very friendly. Overall, my son and I had a good time and the course deserves another try next time I’m in San Antonio. You can’t beat the price either.
Great Value
This course is overall great minus the crab grass growing on the greens. This however didn’t affect putting to much in my opinion. I love this course due to the various elevation changes throughout which makes it a little more challenging. Would definitely recommend

Challenging Course
Nice course; requires litter cleanup and general maintenance repairs near all bridges
Poanna grass
Some putting greens had forty percent of the menacing grass while others had little.
