Warning do not play after 4
We turned up to Farleigh Golf club to tee off at 17:34, plenty of time to get a round in before sunset. I was then told by pro shop staff that the gates to the club would close at 20:30 and we needed to be out by then or our cars would be locked in the car park.
Needless to say the round was not enjoyable with the time pressure and we had to walk off the course before the end as a sub 3 hour round was never going to be possible.
No where on here is this mentioned, Farleigh do not email this out. Selling tee times that a round cannot be completed on is a pretty dishonorable way to run a business.
Avoid playing this course after 4.
Back online and in great shape
After the members'rush immediately post-Covid lockdown, Farleigh is open to the visitor/online community again. Everything is back in excellent shape - clubhouse, driving range, practice areas and the course. Many tees have been renovated, fairways are well-mown, bunkers full of sand and greens rolling consistently. All those out on the course seemed in a positive frame of mind. A joy to play here.
Farleigh in windy conditions
Course was in good condition with only a few boggy spots and most of those were between holes.
Greens in good condition
Enjoyable autumn golf
It's been difficult to get a realistic tee time at Farleigh over the summer so ...at last. The blue 9 fairways are in particularly good shape as they drains so well. The red 9 fairways are a bit muddier but still very playable. Greens and tees all in good shape. I didn't play the yellow 9 but I would guess they are rather like the blues - well drained - given their elevation.. I had a great afternoon.
Course in great condition and the greens were immaculate.
Needs a map
my only real negative is that there is no course map in the score card which means that when its your first time playing the course you arent quite sure where its best to hit because you can't see all the hazards. Also no distance markers which makes it difficult again to work out club selection
Great value for money
This is a fantastic course and great facilities with friendly staff, if only i lived closer i would definitely become a member.
The choice of 3 fantastic 9 hole courses is really good, you can mix them up each time you go there and its like playing a different course each time.
The staff are really helpful and the food is fantastic, whether you are just having a bar snack or a meal the quality of the food is restaurant standard.
I would absolutely recommend playing here.
Slow round
Nice course but too many people who can’t play golf using the white tees. No marshalls and course over booked. Will think twice before playing there again
Excellent course
One of the nicest courses I've played in this area! Greens are in superb condition, really consistent. Pace of play was great.
One of my favourite courses
Played very early in the morning, first out. The 3rd hole on the blue course takes you down into the valley which was shaded from the morning sun so the first 5 holes the greens were pretty much frozen, in great condition though as were the fairways. Rough is cut quite close this time of year so if you tend to be wayward, now is the time to play it. Hole 6 takes you out of the valley into the morning sun. This is one of my favourite courses in the area, plays slightly longer than others but the combination of hills and valleys make it interesting without torturing you. Would consider this club for membership
The worst greens I have ever seen at Farleigh
Played Farleigh many times in the past under the previous and owners and now under Foxhills. I have got to say “ the greens are truly shocking, it’s like putting on the moon” I am not sure if they are infested with something but there are patches all over the greens on all 18 holes.
My only other issue was the ball washers they were either empty of chemical or broken or both. Apart from that the sun was shinning and it was great to get out and play on a course that is in a lovely location.
Perfect Sunday golf
The 27 holes at Farleigh enable the course marshalls to redirect golfers at the halfway stage to reduce course congestion and this worked perfectly for me. It is late May, the course is in excellent condition and Farleigh is at its best.
Bird(ie) central
The Hawk and pigeon fighting in the sky wasn’t the only bird sighted that day. With birdies for all and an eagle on the par 4 second on the yellow course! Fantastic fun!
There are distance markers
