Well worth a visit
For the money, I would definitely recommend this course to anyone. It was in good condition although the greens rolled a little slow, which was to be expected at this time of year. Will definitely be coming back soon
Good value and forgiving course
Reasonable parkland course with a few interesting holes and features. For the most part open and forgiving for higher hanidcappers. Made for an enjoyable round, if not a memorable test of golf. Not the easiest the navigate first time, with a few unmarked tee boxes. Greens and fairways in decent condition.
Still a few winter tee boxes in play which was disappointing. Good value at 15 pound and a great place to play if you’re looking for something at the easier end of the spectrum
Enjoyable course
Course in good condition. Greens.are very well cared for. Play slow took 35 minutes longer than previous time due to slow play and we were a foursome always having to wait
Decent course but slow!
Perfectly acceptable condition, but one area of course very clogged with tees and criss-crossing fairways that caused delays and was potentially hazardous, especially for a new visitor.
Slow play an issue, although I guess Sunday lunchtime is always busy so I imagine later in the day would be quicker.
Despite these issues, well worth a visit- some interesting holes and good use of water hazards.
Bar terrace a lovely sun trap!
Nice course was very slow
Played course in good weather. Course looks in great shape from a distance but greens a little patchy in places.
Well marked out yardage, holes etc for first time playing.
10th hole tee is such a let down looks just surrounded by dead ground and playing of a temporary mat which isn't big enough to stand on.
Not sure if a problem all the time but spent over an hour waiting overall probably closer to 2. There were 7 groups on 2 holes at one point
Nice scenic course and setting
Course is generally really well presented. It has generous fairways and decent sized greens but plays a little tougher than it looks. Disappointing that there were still 2 or 3 winter tee mats in use, the only other slight negative is that the greens were a little slow and bobbley. But overall nice course and great value for money
Great course
Great course I would happily go back and play it again
Friendly Round of Golf
A round of golf with a friend after lockdown, we moaned to secure a tee at Forest of Dean. Never played it before and enjoyed the experience. Not too difficult as wide open fairways; so great for mid handicap players, societies and beginners. Greens on the slow side. A fun day had by us. Couldn't rate off-course as not open after lockdown yet.
Great Course
The course is quite short but requires incredible accuracy! There are some superb holes, including the fantastic 12th with its island green and signature 17th. The course is currently in incredible condition considering the recent wintry weather and the mature tree-lined fairways are particularly impressive. Whilst the greens are in great condition, we found them to be quite slow. Our ONLY criticism would be the pace of play - we were regularly held up by several slow groups of three and four ahead. Overall, I’d say this is a lovely course, well worth a visit, and one I’d return to again.
Closed
Showed up at 10.15 for my 10.40 tee time to find the course closed and I had not been contacted by anyone at the club. Anyone know how I go about getting a refund. Shambles
Sunny and wet
Loved the course! Quite muddy because it rained a lot the past couple of days.
Where's the etiquette?
On the second hole, I had to wait whilst two members sharing one buggy (and sharing clubs)drove off. They held me up on every hole until the 9th, often disappearing into the woods to look for lost balls, and stayed on every green to mark their cards. It was torturous. At one stage, I thought they'd given up as there was no sign of them, and as I played my shot there was a shout from the woods asking me what I thought I was doing, as they hadn't called me through!
Thank goodness, they finished after 9 holes, but two holes later I got held up by a threeball for the rest of the round. I was joined eventually by a couple of members who said that the three in front were committee members - and that the etiquette in the club in general was very poor. I couldn't agree more! Shame, as it's a not a bad little course, but I won't be going back there.
Forest of Dean
Nice little course
Some lovely holes
Only thing was it was busy we kept getting held up but definitely worth the money
Good value golf
A parkland course just on the edge of town, so adjacent to some houses and industrial estate. Not a long course but quite a walk to the next tee on a few holes. A few really challenging holes and most provide something to think about. Course in reasonable condition but can be boggy in parts, especially after heavy rain.
Average course in good condition
This course is quite decent and was found in good condition after a number of days of heavy rain. For the price we paid we would be happy to return in the future.
Good Value when I played. Helpful members and staff.
Proper golf course with plenty of space and some interesting holes
