The course itself is good. But the bunkers could definitely do with some work

Many challenging holes with ditches & water - best keep ball on fairways 👍

Tee boxes were in extremely poor condition, covered in old divots, uneven and patchy

Greens were really disappointing, looked damaged with areas missing, very slow and inconsistent. Areas looked patched up from damage.

Bunkers had hardly any sand, only a dusting above the base on bunker

Have a golf weekend in July there and hoping the course will be in better condition

Course lay out and variation in holes was very good with some great holes .

At £22 it's great value for money but when one of the guys in the 2 ball in front took an 11 on a 235 yard par 4 opening hole it was going to be very slow !

Fairways were in need of defining ! , greens ok .

It's a shame it just seems that it's uncared for and any Tom Dick n Harry play it wearing what ever they want !

But like I say for the money it's fine

Beautiful location, was unexpectedly paired up with another 2 ball but it was no problem at all, they were members of the club and were very friendly, course was testing, with plenty of water hazards that I had no trouble with locating. Fairways and greens were very well maintained and I look forward to playing here again soon.

Always been a fan of the Mathern, it’s a solid course and pretty good value for money.

It’s always a slow start due to a drivable par 4 on the first hole, but I find it backs up quite a bit for the first 8 holes, before suddenly freeing up..

Off course amenities are good, chipping green and practice bunkers are a god send, but stupidly expensive in the Bar and for a non track man range.

Loved the course and the atmosphere around. Much better than other, more expensive courses in the area for a fraction of the price.

Lovely course - good variation of holes.

Fairways could have done with a bit of a trim in parts, but winter rules were in play, so expect they’re probably maintained more in summer.

Great warm up facilities inc chipping green, driving range & putting green.

Restaurant is great albeit a tad expensive.

Very enjoyable round of golf. Will definitely play this course again.

Great course made you think the fairway and greens in top condition for march deffinetly will come back

I understand that we have had some rain over the last couple of weeks but that’s not an excuse for the condition of the course

Fairways were like the first cut of rough at best and as a 4 ball we all lost balls in the middle of the “fairway”

Not hilly so easy enough to walk.

Decided to play the Mathern course again due to loving it the first time. Again i booked an early tee time so i could get out and not have to worry about pace of play. I knew where i weas going this time so had an idea of how to play the course. Would still recommend and despite it being winter the greens were kept very nicely.

Played an early morning round on the Mathern golf course. The course i found quite challenging when I didn’t find the fairway. Because its an old parkland course there’s lots of old oak trees with over hanging branches ands some what skinny fairways. What helped me a little was that it was winter and the ball wouldn’t roll too far which meant I wasn’t rolling into bushes or behind too many trees blocking the way. The course was in good condition for the time of year ans i was happy with how I played. Would happily play again.
