Fairways like first cut of rough
I understand that we have had some rain over the last couple of weeks but that’s not an excuse for the condition of the course
Fairways were like the first cut of rough at best and as a 4 ball we all lost balls in the middle of the “fairway”
Would not recommend
Superb value for money
Always in good condition always cheap and available a good challenge for intermediate golfers
Good value
Good value for money course, nice layout with plenty of variation.
Not hilly so easy enough to walk.
Course was in good condition considering the very dry weather.
Would definitely recommend to the average golfer.
Mathern Course Winter
Decided to play the Mathern course again due to loving it the first time. Again i booked an early tee time so i could get out and not have to worry about pace of play. I knew where i weas going this time so had an idea of how to play the course. Would still recommend and despite it being winter the greens were kept very nicely.
Mathern course.
Played an early morning round on the Mathern golf course. The course i found quite challenging when I didn’t find the fairway. Because its an old parkland course there’s lots of old oak trees with over hanging branches ands some what skinny fairways. What helped me a little was that it was winter and the ball wouldn’t roll too far which meant I wasn’t rolling into bushes or behind too many trees blocking the way. The course was in good condition for the time of year ans i was happy with how I played. Would happily play again.
ST Pierre - Mathern
Great course can’t get better for the price around. Really well maintained greens. Two very tricky long holes on the 4th and the 14th with lots of ditches and tricky greens on top of tight ridges but a really enjoyable round.
Mathern course
Course was in great condition, narrow fairways so tricky for beginners but for the cost of a round through golf now it was well worth the money, definately play there again
Good Course
Good short course. Very fun to play woth friends and the amenities are very welcoming. Staff did a great job welcoming us.
Simply wonderful
Had a blast! Really well maintained and well presented course. Can’t speak of it highly enough. A true championship quality course
Good value for money
Well maintained course but would recommend using an app while playing to help show distance to ditches etc. lots of lost balls in ditches you can’t even see from a tee box, or the course need to install hole layout maps on tee boxes.
Well worth the £19 I paid
Golf day
Great price, lovely course. Nice and flat.
Definitely worth the money.
Dreadful
Quite possibly the worst condition of any course that I've played in 25 yrs of playing golf.
Tee boxes look like a divot has never been repaired, clover and weeds growing all over the fairway and its in desperate need for water. I dont think the course has any green keepers working on it at all.
The lad in the golf shop had nothing about him, he gave poor directions to get to the first which we just had to guess in the end.
The greens were strange, rapid but like bouncy castle when walking on them. Rested my putter a couple times and the ball moved.
Have a look at the images and judge for yourself.
Had a great day
I played this course twice now and it's worth the journey from Gloucester I like the course and the green fees are really good
