Forest of Dean Golf Club

First impression of course was a bin overflowing with rubbish.

Tees in terrible condition. Bare and too many divot holes.

Fringes of greens being cut with a gang mower leaving clods of grass on the edge and overflowing onto greens.

Generally greens quite good. Fairways and rough ok

Enjoyable front nine but a little confusion on whee to go from 3rd green to 4th. One green was temporary (not sure why).

Overall an enjoyable course.

We played Forest of Dean today played it a few times before so traveled the 40 miles from the valleys of South Wales started playing before the rain came in but by the 8th hole The greens were waterlogged and unplayable when we came off we told the pro in the shop that we came off early and he said he would sort out a free round on our return other than that the course looked in good condition and can’t wait for our return visit

The rough had been well cut back since last playing here which made it more forgiving for drives a bit wayward.

Had a good afternoon, a bit slow due to busy ahead, but a fair challenge, so greens had been damaged by vandals, but generally very nice condition. 10th hole a bit odd, needs a few trees lopping I think!

booked last minute with golf now, arrived half an hour late but they were very accommodating even though they were busy. A lovely sunny day and course was in very good condition. Not played for a while so challenging enough for me. I enjoyed and would like to play the again.

Really enjoyed the round. Open fairways helped us, as two relative beginners.

Young lad in the pro shop was very helpful.

We were rushed a little by Local members following us, but it meant we finished in just over 3hrs.

Food, drink and service in the clubhouse was great after too.

Plenty using buggies but we chose to get the walk in.

Would highly recommend for a visit and round

2nd time playing this course and found it in great condition and really enjoyable to play. Challenging but forgiving to suit all standards of players and cant wait to go back. Cannot rate off course amenities as haven't used them yet

Not the first time on this course. I find myself coming back to this course over & over. Course was in great condition & was unaffected by the rain. The greens still played quick. I love this course, it’s nice & open & quite forgiving. The only thing that ruined it & NO FAULT OF THE CLUB was the selfish 4 ball that wouldn’t let anybody play through right from the second hole.

I love this course. You won’t be disappointed after a day out here. Well worth the fees!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Course in great condition and incredible value for money

Just played for the 1st time, very impressed with the course, greens were quick and rolled true. Shame about the vandalism on a few greens but you can’t blame the course for that. Very busy so pace was slow( 2 ball took 3 hours 45 mins) but I didn’t mind as I played well. My only gripe was with the frosty reception I received in the club shop. Our tee time was put back because I booked through GolfNow and I was told I should’ve rang the course to confirm the booking despite receiving a confirmation email. The way it was said didn’t give a great first impression, fortunately the course did so I left happy.

Fantastic job by grounds man. Course was in excellent condition bar one or two greens but this was down to mindless yobs burning shapes into the grass. This is no fault on the staff. Greens played pretty fairly & fairways were spot on.

Would definitely book again. Great value for money
