Could be really nice
Lots of work going on which to be fair was reflected in the reduced green fee. Course fairways were good but greens were terrible. Got the potential to be a lovely course once the work is complete. No facilities as everything was closed, not even a loo to use !
Would like to return one day when they have finished their refurbishment and improved the greens
Really bad greens
The greens were awful spoilt the day
Not enough signs were the next holes are
Could be a great course if the get the greens up to stratch
A Work in Progress..... but improving fast
Yes, the greens are poor - in some cases very poor - and yes some tees are being worked on. The rest of the course is good however and it is a proper golf challenge with a wide of variety of holes. In 12 months ( as long as the work is completed) it will be very good. Till then, accept it for what it is and enjoy the spectacular views of the estuary.
Those Greens "sad emoji"
I love this course and have played here a few times now but those greens need attention.
The course is clearly having lots of work done on it so hopefully this is just a transition period for them. The clubhouse is now a children's nursery and a metal hut is being used as a makeshift pro shop (tempory measure i hope).
The fairways are in generally good condition but the greens are appalling. you cannot get a read whatsoever as once you hit the ball it bobbles all over the place, This spoilt a good game of golf, and The bunkers are in need of some sand and weeding now.
The course itself offers a good variety of holes, some straightforward and some toughies to keep you interested and wanting to return and try your luck again.
But please get those greens sorted.
Maintenance taking place
I booked this for me and a friend and gotta say the course wasn’t in a great state. They have a lot of work going on and felt like their focus was on the new things being built rather than the course. On some holes it was hard to see where the fairways ended and semi rough started. The greens were in a terrible state. There were a couple that were playable but most of the greens were not great, to the point we tested one of the holes as the hole was crowned and no matter how we had the ball going to the hole it wouldn’t go in. The staff were really helpful and polite so gotta say I’m gonna leave it a few years before playing here again as although it’s cheap honestly would rather pay more to play a better kept course. Hard to say about amenities as due to Covid I’m not sure how this has impacted what they can offer.
Poor green quality
Iv loved playing this course a hand full of times but for some reason when I played over this weekend, the greens were hurrendous.
There was more divots and grassless patches on these greens than I’ve ever seen on 90% of courses i have previously played.
I understand there may be a lower staff level and other course maintenance going on but the actual course should not be forgotten about.
Has potential
Let’s start with the negatives of the course. The greens like other reviews were not the best and will need time to get back to playable condition. Also the work that is going on with new tees being put in place and the rain made some pathways boggy and very muddy. Also not much signs out for first time players to know were to go as got lost moving from the 15th to the 16th (it’s past the 8th tee just in case you needed to know). The 17th hole is just a hole with a flag in it on the fairway but again no information provided to say this.
But after all that this is a great course some really challenging holes and great scenery, and the price can’t be argued with. I am sure I will play here again but might wait a while until the greens are playable and the work has been complete.
Despite undergoing maintenance, its lovely.
I think some of the reviews I've heard or read are absolutely over the top. Firstly a previous review on here from the other day is so unfair id go as far as to say remove. Saying the course is horrific blabla. Absolutely no mention of the fact you get told prior to booking its under maintenance and therefore get to pay PENNIES to play it. Its total value for money. Fair price to reflect to the work you chose to agree to play around before booking so utterly ridiculous review as it mentions nothing about that or cheap prices. Also the staff are ALWAYS driving around each time I've been there, 3 times now. Always smiley and actually gone out their way to open a locked toilet just for me. They reiterate the course conditions too. Now the course, the greens are bobbly and dry yes, dont go there if you want to work on your putting game. However playable. And should be no issue if you are actually decent. The rest of the course, so interesting and pretty. I took someone who read the reviews and thought no, but I persuaded due to my previous 2 timea experience and the value for money and they said it totally went against all they thought it was going to be and would deffo come back. This is the sort of review you want to read, an honest one.
Frodsham golf
Lovely course great views challenging course great length from back tees
Dreadful
This course is horrendous. Apart from the nice enough scenic views and fairways being ok, the rest is a joke.
The greens are like putting on a pebbled beach they are that bumpy. The bunkers are not maintained and unusable throughout. They are building new tee boxes apparently but don’t know why, as the greens are what need work.
Finally, there are no staff. I rang, emailed, tweeted, and messaged the course beforehand and had no reply. In fact, we could have just turned up and not paid and nobody would have a clue.
Nice course
enjoy playing here very quiet at the moment very friendly staff great
.....
Nice course friendly staff
Much improved!
The course is looking so much better. Yes the greens still need work but for what we paid we really couldn’t complain.
What can I say!
Played this picturesque golf course yet again last Friday - we had another ‘fab’ time - it is such a shame the greens are taking a while to recover from the chemical damage they underwent! Other than that - which one, for the relatively small green-fee charge, can take as a challenge, you won’t get much better value for money anywhere. Can’t wait for the greens to recover - in the meantime I will be back for more £4 per hour entertainment and enjoyment. Thanks once more for taking care of us FGC! See you soon.
Great value
Really enjoy the course great layout lots of improvements
Great views and fairways but disgusting greens
This is the second time playing this course and it’s improved a little from the first time but the greens are still disgusting still.
Everything else is in top condition lots of working going on around the course this will be a great place in a years time if they keep improving it.
