We played Furness Golf Course today after several days of substantial rainfall and was pleasantly surprised at how well the course presented. The fairways were generally dry with only a few wet areas and the greens were amongst the best I've played in the UK at this time of year. The clubhouse was not open due to Covid but the staff were friendly and the green fee more than reasonable. We will definitely be back!
Very very wet
Unfortunately we had taken two days of heavy rain prior to playing and the low spots of the undulating fairways held puddles for approximately 4to 5 fairways. I don’t blame the course for this it was just unlucky timing. The course offered a steady challenge and would tax all abilities of golfers. Club staff were very helpful and very aware of our visitor status.
Excellent links course
Top notch links course with a good variety of holes, excellent greens and great views.
A demanding course but I would recommend it for all levels of golfers.
Gets better
First time we played furness and thought it was great course in great condition lovely sunny day members really friendly a good test with no trees .
Enjoyable links course
Course was good. Didn’t really use the amenities due to Covid
Mr Keith Lister
Great course in good condition,Secretary was very helpful, some of the holes are very challenging and the views to the lake district are fantastic, club house is basic
Well worth the money
Secretary very friendly. Sorted a trolly for me & opened the shop. Great course with awesome views. I played on my own. Never in all my years playing have I met so many male members on a golf course who stopped & chatted to me. I was called through a couple of times.
Views are amazing from every hole.
Loved this course
Great links
My wife and I played in a pairs open and the course was great. The greens putted well and some of the pins were tucked away in tricky spots. A couple of the fairways were a bit wet following a week of rain but overall, everywhere was nicely kept.
The 6th and 10th are great par threes and the par four 11th has that links course must-have: a tight driving hole with the beach - and out of bounds - just at the edge of the fairway.
There are superb views down the coast and inland to the Lake District from the 8th green/9th tee - the highest point of the course.
Everyone was really friendly are the two chaps (members) we played with were great company.
We have played quite a few courses in Cumbria and this is definitely one of the best. It is a bit out of the way but it's well worth a visit. We will certainly return for another round the next time we're in the area.
Great links course
Nice interesting course, kept in excellent condition.
Strange clubhouse facilities, no pro shop on site so nowhere to buy any extras for your round.. Balls, water or food etc
Course
The rough is a bit daunting, and the wind is a big factor , but all in all it is a very good course
Brilliant Linx course
First time I've played this course and possibly the best £11 I've ever spent thanks to Tee Off Times. The course is in fantastic condition with the greens immaculate. The views are amazing and with a stiff breeze off the sea the course was very challenging. Highly recommend...
Great course
First time playing course and really enjoyed it. The views were amazing and would definitely recommend. Will be playing again
Excellent links
2 hour drive but had to take my brother up.. played a few weeks ago after work. Course set up to score well but also to punish, add the wind and this is a true test. Love my links golf being a parkland member and for £16 this has to be the best value golf in the UK, it's £20 to play at my course as a non member.. Excellent views.. greens immaculate and the scruffy links effect.. I love golf! shot 76, will be going back..
