Course
Great course, well maintained and looked after, my only small gripe is the putting greens are a bit patchy on some holes.
Great value Course and club
On holiday this way and our first time at the club. Great welcome from the young gentleman in the well stocked pro shop. Another friendly welcome from the ladies making the food and serving drinks etc in the clubhouse. Course was in very nice condition and an easy walk (not hilly) with plenty of interest (water, trees, bunkers, ditches etc) A few greens had a few small repair patches in place but it’s essential maintenance and didn’t detract at all from the golf. Lots of friendly members on the course too. Proof of the pudding is we have booked twice more this week and that may stretch to more as the week goes on. Food and coffee was excellent and well priced too.
First time on the course
The course was in poor condition, fairways were long, greens were patchy and tee boxes were sparse. The course was a good layout and challenging but made it less enjoyable to play given the poor condition of it.
Greens need work
Played this course loads in the past but was disappointed this time, the greens were really poor and the whole course was really muddy considering this course always drained well, they have altered the lay out so quite confusing where the next tees are, need some signage in place, had lines on fairways 40 yrds short of greens saying no trolleys past this point so if missed the green you had to take 3 clubs with you, I know it’s winter but why hire buggies out when so muddy and even trolleys shouldn’t be allowed until it drys up a bit, if everyone carries they wouldn’t have to all follow the same paths causing it to be so muddy, this is a favourite course of mine but needs a lot of work and some tough decisions that will upset the members but they will thank you in the future, won’t be returning until summer and hopefully it will be back to the standard it used to be, staff as friendly as ever
Play elsewhere if you can
Pro shop closed at 1300 on arrival. Hard to find 1st Tee. Had to ask two separate members. Greens very very poor. Three separate bonfires lit wafting smoke over course. Frequent loud gunshot to put you off further. Course boring as all holes much the same. Ideal for beginner as virtually impossible to lose a ball. I am 11 handicap and shot 81. On plus side I got round in 2hrs 35 as virtually no one on the course.
Greens in a bad way
First time here in a few years and was looking forward to it. Tees and fairways where as good as we could have hoped for in the wet conditions. But the greens where in a sorry state, lots of burnt patchy turf and tonnes of gurs on the actual greens. love the course and layout but the greens have really put us off returning any time soon
Dreadful Greens
Played last Sunday and paid £19 each on a hot deal and it was enough to pay. The greens were awful some of the worst I have ever played on. Do not waste your money. Two guys behind us had come from Scarborough and were annoyed they had traveled so far with the course in this condition
Poor greens and confusing course layout
We booked Hainsworth as within an hours drive and never played there before. Got a great deal on GolfNow for £13.99 per person for a lunchtime tee. First impressions were good, stocked pro shop, friendly staff. We proceeded to the practice green and nets to warm up. These were ok but not great. We then went to the first tee which is a bit of a walk from the pro shop. When we got there a 4 ball had just teed off and there was another 2 ball with the same time as us. The 4 ball started holding us all up so we asked if we could play through and they let us. Once through the pace of play was good. The course is a strange layout and difficult to know where the next tee is on some holes, the signage could definitely be much better. It also feels like they have squeezed 18 holes into a small area with fairly narrow fairways and only a single row of trees dividing some fairways. One area that was very disappointing is the quality of the greens, not only a little too long and slow but holes, bait patches, sand and cut lines all made it not very enjoyable. The ponds were almost bone dry but this cannot be helped given the lack of rain this year. The course looked nice enough and had some quite tight technical holes which were challenging. I would probably only play here again if they sorted out the greens and added signage to the next tee on some holes.
Tees and greens in poor condition due to the ongoing lack of rainfall.
Greens have been heavily sanded and reseeded on some bare patches, but not all.
?
Condition of course poor, greens terrible hardly any grass on them putting on bald greens not good for your score. Feel we should have been warned when booked or when we got to pro shop!
Need to have map of course as some holes are confusing if you haven't played before.
Great Fairways, Greens Need sorting
Love course. Great Fairways, Greens need a lot of work doing to them as they aren’t the best. Heard a few golfers having a moan. I’ve been a few times now and I’ve enjoyed the course. But it was the first time where the Greens have been really bad. Hopefully this will get sorted.
Lost greens
Nice little course but I’m afraid something gone drastically wrong with greens lots of sand very little green
Course in poor condition.
Played this course on Wednesday with 8 others, it is without doubt the worse course we have played on this year . it has really suffered with lack of water ,all the greens were mainly sand and stubby grass patches and want reseeding or relaying . we will not be going there again anytime soon .
Walk in the Park
Played Hainsworth Park for the second time, the fairways were hard as was expected in the baking heat, the greens were still receptive and true. We had a bacon sandwich before going out and it was delicious. This is a very friendly golf club at a very respectable price. We will be back.
Good course
Good course. Very reasonably priced
The course calls for good course management and placing off the tee.
The bunkers are good with plenty of sand in.
The greens were running true.
I’d recommend.
