Great course!
This 9 hole course is great for all skill levels, it’s in good condition overall and for the price you cannot complain, staff are very welcoming and helpful, will definitely play here again
It is what it is
Harborne is a short, tight course 9 hole course crammed into a small plot of land, with fairways crossing each other and greens barely protected from wayward shots by internal out of bounds markers.
Ideal for beginners due to its short length, it is still a challenge due to how tight each hole is. Shots that don’t find the fairways will often vanish in thick trees or unkempt undergrowth. Frustratingly, shots that do find the fairway can also disappear under grass cuttings left after being mowed.
The pro shop is not stocked with anything, so bring your own drinks. Changing facilities are poor. It is however unpretentious and the dress code police won’t be visiting.
I would bring people new to golf here as it is not intimidating in any way, however for everyone else there are better places to visit.
Great 9 holes course
Lovely 9 hole course, a good layout but you have to think about positioning. As a golfer returning after many years away this is a great course. Around 2 hours for 2 players. Well recommend.
Nice course lay out
Course quite good on the lay out, greens not so good but playable, bunkers terrible. Shop not open no staff couldn't get a scorecard or drinks etc
The greens were not good at all.
It is quite a challenging course for a 9 hole municipal.
The greens weren't good at all. They had been aerated and you couldn't judge the role of any putt.
Good course, bad communication
Booked through GN and course stated they weren't aware of booking. Managed to get us out on time and didn't affect our day.
TLC needed
Course itself is ok buf it lacks care anc attention
Bunkers are overgrown
General upkeep is poor
Great value
A nice course with a few decent par 4s for a beginner you really dont need much more. There's enough water, sand and trees to loose a few balls along the way.
Good for new golfers
Good for beginers as the round is not too long from any of the tees, however it is almost half price if you call directly
Very challenging course was and bad communication from golf now let this down.
Staff were very helpful and accommodate us despite golfnow not communicating our Tee off times. There was a competition on upon arrival... So not the best start.
Tee off was late (which was not an issue for us - and through no fault of the Harbourne staff.
The staff stated that they did not go through golf now app anymore, as there were previous issues.
The machine to cut the rough was not working so it was very thick... Tr fairway was like the rough should have been.
However - the green was well looked after and no complaints there.
States that the machine will be sorted soon.
Course holes at times crossed over and felt cramped with narrow fairways. Which would support a more intermediate player.
If the area was bigger it would accommodate a beginner better.
This is the first time I booked through golfnow and i hope that this communication error gets sorted as I am certain it's a one off.
Positives:
Friendly accommodating staff
The putting green was decent.
Was funny watching my colleague give up as at times in the rough it was unplayable....
Other people playing were kind and allowed us to walk through when the holes crossed over.
Negatives:
The course was very thick in the rough and lost a few balls in the fairway! - one guy before we started said he lost 7 balls playing that day (the weather was not bad).
Course is not forgiving and overlaps on a few holes.
Overall:
Challenging and a learning experience in thick conditions.
£15.50 for 9 holes was not good but maybe more appropriate when the rough and fairway has been cut better. I might come back (if allowed after this review).
Once again thankyou to the staff for accommodating us to play - even with the miscommunication.
Shocking
Shocking course, the one member of staff was rude and challanged my group on the first tee because he was confused on how golf now worked...
Lads walking round In football shirts with one or 2 clubs...
Waiting on every hole, rubbish everywhere.. Waste of time and money
Course holding up Weill for this time of year
I arrived to find the course doesn’t open until 8am but I had booked a tee time of before 8 on GolfNow. I spoke with a greenkeeper who told me to go ahead and tee off which was good. The course is holding up well for this time of year, greens and fairways were good. Lots of leaves elsewhere but it is November, so should be expected. I would recommend.
Found it a good course for a beginner like me.Well maintained , bunker locations are fairly kind and no ponds to avoid. The stream across a fair part of the course can be a hazard if you’re unlucky with your shots!!The greens are immaculate and fast.It was quiet when we played mid- week. There is one cross- over hole towards the end of the course so a little courtesy needed by players.I will return.
