Fast greens
Greens could have done with being more receptive although it has been a dry spell of late..
Golf at Puckrup
On behalf of the Gloucester Gurkha Golf Society, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for hosting us on Saturday, 21st June 2025.
It was truly a brilliant day. The course was in excellent condition and provided just the right level of challenge. We are especially grateful for the opportunity to play from the white tees, which all our members thoroughly enjoyed. Please pass on our sincere appreciation to the greenkeeping team and everyone involved in preparing and maintaining the course, as well as supporting the event so well. Your efforts helped make it a truly memorable day of golf. Thank you.
We feel privileged to have played at your club and are already looking forward to returning next June.
Slow pace of play and facilities closed
Course in good condition, greens fast but the pace of play was shocking
Half way house closed on a Saturday afternoon and several players just walking off the course
They need to sort the booking facilities
Bar also closed after our round
Horrible Slow Play due to Overbooking Tee Slots and Poor Management
Booked a three ball to Tee off at 3.35pm on a very very hot Saturday. First few holes were an average pace of play, aka 4 hours for 18 hole pro rata. Then we ground to a halt. Each hole the weight and queues were getting longer and longer. Several members and paying customers quit by hole 5. Talking to the members who were left after getting to hole 8 in just shy of 3 Hours and running out of water. The course management team had booked on a few hours earlier a group of 75 guests, most non players. How on earth was this allowed to happen. ?? Still battling on we got to the half way house for a top up of water and maybe some snacks. It was closed !!! Very poor indeed. We finished every hole, the greens were well maintained which was good especially in this unseasonably dry period. Finally got back to the club house, where is was going to express our frustration, like many other paying customer and members alike, to find it was closed … poor management and a lack of consideration to customer, together with overbooking has ruined a perfectly good day of golf. Overall it should never take over 5. Hours 38 minutes to play a game of golf later on a Saturday afternoon. I will be expecting a refund or a discount off of the next time I book. Which to be fair will be a long time from now. I guess the new owners do not consider the customers and members to be of any value to them
Good course
Enjoyed our round with the greens in good condition but the bunkers very poor with no sand depth so club bouncing off the rock hard bottom
Excellent condition
Course in excellent condition throughout. Tee boxes, fairways and greens. A little slow but we were behind 4 four balls. Great facilities and friendly staff.
Renewing an old acquaintance
I have played the course a few times over the years and seemed to play well on every visit. This was, however, my first visit in more than 15 years and I played it well yet again. Not bad seeing as approaching my 79th birthday. I am definitely going to return - it’s rejuvenating !
Interesting course
This was for me very interesting courses enjoyed it. And Marshall was excellent. Very chatty and relaxed got us off on time.
We were paired with two other GN customer. Age gap of 30 years but had an absolutely great Craic as they say. Very good day
Great value and top course
First time back playing Puckrup since 2017.
Always been very fond, especially of the par 3s and some thought requiring par 4s.
Pace of play wasn’t great but that’s not the golf clubs direct fault. There was an awful 4 ball ahead of us (2 ball) who spent half of their time in the trees but didn’t think of letting us through.
Not spoilt the afternoon, great time as expected.
Great Course
Really good course and great staff. Was held up by a very slow 4 ball of beginner older guys but nothing the course can really do about that. Would definitely visit again.
A Gem of a Course with Lightning-Fast Greens!
Played a round here last weekend, and I must say, it's one of the best-kept courses I've come across. The greens were immaculate—fast, true, and challenging enough to keep even the best putters on their toes. You can tell the grounds crew takes immense pride in their work.
The hospitality was second to none. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. The clubhouse was well-stocked, and a member met us as a Marshall on the first to talk us through the round.
That said, if you like sand, you’re in for a treat—there’s more of it here than in Western-super-Mare! Bunkers are plentiful and strategically placed, ensuring your sand wedge gets a proper workout. While it added to the challenge, it also kept things interesting. There are drivable par 4s and I reached the fringe on 3.
All in all, a fantastic experience with a touch of humor from the beach-like bunkers. Looking forward to returning.
Nice à Sunny golf course I loved it
Sunny was an option,
The course design is Nice with numerus bunkers and water obstacles, some trenches
The Greens were in good chape , one was half wet soaky I should havé Walk on …
I felt it not too difficult but some holes needs to be practiced to find the best landing places
I loved my day
Puckrup Hall
The course was in excellent condition considering the lack of rain over the last couple of months. My son and I enjoyed every minute and because the course was busy we were paired up with 2 other gents and a good time was had by all.
Lovely but greens are rough
Stayed at the hotel and golfed. Staff member agitated that I need a club rental. Very easy course, wide fairways. Greens were rough.
Slow slow slow
Was met with a cold welcome and didn't get much better from there - once we paid for the buggy at the pro shop window opposite the bar we turned and walked 3 yards to the bar and waited 5 minutes for to get s drink. The bar was unattended, so we walked back to the pro shop window to ask is anymore serving? "Yes I can " !? So they saw us stood at the bar but never offered to help!?
Once on the course the play way painfully slow I think there may of been a senior competition on? We were not informed of this at the pro shop or the fact that all the greens had been spiked and treated, so the greens were totally unplayable!
Bad show all round and we won't be back
What a lovely course
We both had a great experience on a sunny March day at Puckrup Hall. Neither of us had played there before. Very friendly staff in both the golf shop and hotel where I went first. The polite receptionist showed me where to go to the golf shop. We were allowed to tee it up early. Loved the course. Slight delay for 2 holes behind a 4-ball but they soon let us through. Course in great condition and although greens had been dressed (as expected this time of year) but the greens were still running true and were fast. Happy with my 78 and enjoyed a cheaper than expected beer in the clubhouse after. For £20 each this was very good value and we both agreed that we will be returning.
So glad you enjoyed the course and your round.
Unfortunately a common trend courses are experiencing is a lack of players raking bunkers.
Our greens team rake and prepare the bunkers 3 times a week. We have just added additional sand to our bunkers which I hope you experience on your return.
