Tough course
A nice course that needs some funding to make it a very good course. Sloping fairways were impossible to place a drive due to really dry conditions. Greens are nice and in good condition. Bunkers are deep and not enough sand to be able to get under the ball. Only played the front 9 and at times struggled to find the next hole. I feel this course could be a top course but it just looks unkept. Lovely views of Oxford city centre.
Cheap and cheerful but surprisingly good
For £23 (hot deal) on a Saturday lunchtime, the course was worth the money for a sociable round for all abilities. Played with varied hcps (myself 7, one mate off 13 and another off 19) and all enjoyed. Greens were well kept and plenty of variety in the holes.
Brilliant course
Really enjoyed playing Hinksey, superbly looked after course. Challenging holes, 4 is a stunner and views of Oxford skyline the whole way around. Staff we’re really friendly, the bar looked great.
Strange amount of 5 balls playing which is slow things down a little, but only a minor criticism of a otherwise brilliant course. Will be back for sure!
Great day
The weather was not the best windy and some rain which made the course more difficult but very enjoyable.
Some of the bunkers left a little to be desired but it did not hamper too much.
Enjoyable and great value with Hot Deal
A very pleasant surprise!! A tale of two 9s, with the 2nd 9 clearly the old Championship course coupled with a front 9 of interesting but not so well landscaped holes. Greens were excellent. Views were as promised “Oxford’s Spires” and the fairways were as good as many we have played this year. We played using a hot deal and <£25 represented fantastic VFM for a true test of golfing ability. As with many courses now, the greens are firming up and there was plenty of roll when hitting fairways. Our weather conditions were perfect, which adds to the playability (not sure how the course plays when wet). Many golfers we saw were playing for the first time and I am sure they will be back. As will our group.
Nice track
Second time we’ve played here, nice course for the price and you can get on at decent times as well so well worth a visit
Hidden Gem?
Very friendly hosts.
Excellent course in great condition. Well worth a trip if your in the area.
A fair challenge for all standards of golfer.
Booked ad-hoc whilst in the area working, will return in the summer.
Building site on and off the course
Course in average condition, mole damage litters the course throughout.
Lots of grass bunkers, but after seeing the sand in actual bunkers, the grass ones are a welcome relief. Non raked, compacted sand leaves you with awful shots from these so called sand traps.
Greens in good condition, but holes themselves need work. Lots crowned, cups loose in holes and flags often laid down on green.
Member in front of us playing 3 or 4 balls led to us asking if we (a 2 ball) could play through. He refused as there was a group in front of him (2 holes ahead).
Off course, the place is a building site. Dust and maintenance work all around the clubhouse. No warm welcome at all.
Such a shame
Great greens, great views
The greens were very good (and challenging) especially for mid-March.
Course was generally in good condition, though some fairways were soft in places.
Good to play on the day considerating The recent poor weather Rearrangement of course understood and greens in good order
How is it that someone can not show up to play, and still write a review!
