Excellent, challenging but forgiving course
Plenty of challenging holes but most have quite forgiving layouts. Great course to play on if out of the game for a little while.
Lovely course but could do with more signs.
This course is lovely, well maintained with stunning views of Oxford.
My only criticism is that there is very little guidance on where the next hole is.
Yes. I did play the 17th thinking it was the 8th. And then found myself numerous time wandering to find the next hole.
I know next time I will know better but it was annoying for a first play.
Good round in the sun
Good course but needs more direction around the course. Got lost and missed 2 holes.
Nice course, great views!
We came out to Hinksey Heights for the first time having moved to Abingdon 4 months ago. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the course. It was in pretty good nick and the only slight criticism would maybe be the slower greens. A good all round experience for the money and some fabulous views of the countryside and surrounding villages. It is very undulating and hilly, so the walk is not easy, but we'll worth the journey
Not as CBS’s as expected
Pro shop very friendly and helpful. Nice people.
Hadn’t played here for 10 years so uncertain as to what to expect.
Range balls good quality but mats on the slant which was disconcerting even for good golfers.
Told course was in good condition and greens were better? They weren’t!!! they were poor I am afraid. Compared to everywhere else they are @ 4 weeks behind. Not good in prime golfing season.
This is not a tough course. To be honest you can be as wayward as you want. Many holes if your 100 yds off line me you will still have a shot in. Get in trouble you deserve it. Widest most forgiving course I’ve ever played.
Great courses for beginners.
Course was in ok condition but greens were still very poor. I know it was only £20 but greens were very poor.compared to elsewhere locally. (I play 3 times a week) Worst we’ve played this year and I can’t understand why?
If your a beginner they will be fine but as single figure golfers they we’re almost unplayable.as chipping a lottery and putting a total hit and hope.
That said £20 a good walk and not spoilt.
We’re being overly critical here as single figure golfers we need good greens. 98% golfers would find this was ok.
Get the greens sorted and it will be a very good track worthy of £25 midweek and £30 -35 weekends. More and you don’t know your golf locally guys as some courses currently in magnificent condition !
Also must add bar staff afterwards were excellent. Best service this year.
Hope they get greens sorted as would then return as this place deserves to prosper as not an easy track and have to play a good round to get a round.
Oxford gem
Course conditions and facilities improving every time we play there. Looking forward to the end of lockdown to be able to properly enjoy it but just playing golf is a pleasure
Good course. Play was slow though but have played here before and its been okay. Greens were very dry and bobbley but again its been very dry conditions.
Lightning fast greens
Hinksey Heights is a tough course to play at the moment as the dry weather has made the greens lightning fast. Also wasn’t helped by the fact the greens had just been hollow tyned with some greens sanded and some not - so putting was a bit of a lottery. Course has a number of GURs which could do with tidying up but overall it’s a great course and largely forgiving if you stray offline (no rough)
Some tight close fairways
Spring conditioning with a number of small areas under work, but overall very playable. Greens coming out of winter cover so spiked and sandy, didn't spoil the day. Some excellent long holes.
Disappointed
1st round after lockdown was expecting it to be in better shape than when we left it, it wasn't. Temperary tee boxes on a few holes had just tinned the greens no sand in fill making putting a bit of a lottery, same bunkers gur. Appreciate lockdown rules etc. But was just expecting better. Paid £20 via hotdeal so not bad, certainly not worth the £30 they're charging at the moment
Not a bad way to spend £30 in current times
We got on, and that was the most important thing. Very friendly folk on course, but tee boxes and fairway condition less friendly. The former is probably due to intense use over last 2 weeks. 2 mats.
