A massive bog
I have played Hinksey multiple times through summer and into autumn which were great, but the last two times I have played in December the course is almost unplayable. Every fairway is extremely water logged, it is like playing in a massive bog. Preferred lies makes little difference other than being able to pull your ball out from being plugged.
Soggy Saturday
Although it was a hailstone down pour at the start of the round, once three holes in the weather eased and it was a lovely scenic round.
The ground was very sodden in parts, however the greens ans fairways held up remarkably well.
Really enjoyable course
Really enjoyed playing this course it was my first time here and I did find it hard to find a handful of the tees from confusing directions on the course but non the less I still had a very enjoyable time playing here. The food after was very nice to ❤️
Good Track
Nothing fancy frills, just a well maintained parkland course. Greens were emasculate - from previous reviews this place has come on well. Only callout would be it is a little too simple, more hazards, obstacles, trees are needed. Many players are using neighbouring holes fairways which really slows play.
That being said, new to golf? High handicapper? This is a good track.
Fun and challenging
Nothing but praise for this course, very welcoming, a great test of your skills, quirky undulating and two tiered greens add to the challenge, lovely views enhance the experience. All in the group enjoyed the day and planning to come back next year.
Hard course to score low on
Only reason I gave average as there are a lot of challenges to overcome to score low - sloping fairways, multi tiered greens and crowned greens - these are probably welcomed by the low handicappers, but us fair weather golfers are frustrated to see a reasonable shot catch a second tier to be dumped off the green. We also played after some really heavy rain the previous days, the course was all open just a but soft in places which is remarkable - some lovely scenery and some lovely holes !
In great condition
Having played this course since it first opened I must comment on how great the greens were looking and playing. Overall the course is in the bestoverall condition I have ever seen it.
It is a challenging course, what with all the steep inclines to deal with and plays a bit long on occasion but, a great course, especially if the wind is in your favour. And, the views are obviously outstanding.
Hinksey
Very open course in excellent condition. Wonderful views of Oxford. Long walks from green to next tee in places and signage could be improved.
Hinckley heights
Overall I enjoyed the course. The layout is very interesting but general conditions are average. The bunkers need a huge amount of work. The fairways are ok and the greens are true for most of them.
Nice course
I really enjoyed the course layout
The greens were generally very true and nice
The fairways we a little scratchy but still nice
I really enjoyed the game
The staff were very friendly
