Green fees
A friend & I like the course very much but feel the costs of a round has gone up dramatically. We are looking to find an alternative course as we travel twelve miles to play.
What have they been doing for the last three months?
Hurtmore is open to visitors and costs under £30 a round. That’s the positives. The greens are covered in some grass eating disease, the bunkers are all different sands and levels, the fairways and rough look like they’ve been roughly cut by the council. While other courses have used the down time to prepare themselves for a busy year the owners at Hurtmore appear to have taken the approach of just trying to make money from unsuspecting visitors and beginners. Not a fitting tribute to the late great Peter Alliss who designed it.
A family favorite
Course was great, greens were rough and slow and need so more attention.
A family favorite with my Dad and son. Good round pace considering it was busy. The pair ahead would be putting as we were starting on the tee so quite usual for a Surrey course.
A pair of grumpy old men behind us, also usual for Surrey.
Facilities and pro shop open but with limited use due to covid. No seating inside of course but really nice to be back out playing golf again.
Recommended if you want an open but testing course and not expecting Wentworth or the RAC.
Windy and snow but good
Course was a nice short course with many sub 300yard par 4s. Greens could have been in better condition given a winter without players., Being behind 3 golfers who did not know that etiquette is to let a two ball pass through if you are looking for a ball and somewhat wayward did not help the pace of play. Overall though a nice course that I would ret=urn to.
Small, short, busy, and tired
Very short track even from the whites. Lots of short driveable 4s. Holes feel very crammed in - some very narrow fairways adjacent to other holes. Considering the course hadn't been in play for over 3 months the greens were shocking - tined, covered in seed and sand- not uncommon to see the ball bobble into the air when putting. Clubhouse was nice, but there are far better options about .
Nice open course
This course is reasonably flat with wide fairways and is very forgiving. Perfect for someone who isn’t a long hitter or a beginner. The course conditions were as good as can be expected at this time of the year. Well worth playing for the money.
Perfect golf course
Well kept neat tidy golf course good true greens.A short but interesting and challenging course.Mind the geese with your tee shots on some holes they wander in range.
Great Experience
Was my first time playing here and I couldn’t be more impressed. A friendly welcome by the staff followed by an excellently maintained and interesting course to play on.
Considering the adverse weather we have had the grounds keepers have down an outstanding job.
Looking forward to return soon.
Short but good!
The course was surprisingly playable considering the wet weather of the previous few weeks. Tees and fairways were soft but not boggy. The greens were well looked after and ran fast and true. Definitely a course to play in winter conditions.
Very nice course
The course has a number of shortish par 4s, with some longer holes to get the long irons out for. It's in very good condition, the greens are excellent, quite quick, tricky to read. It's quite forgiving of the odd wayward tee shot. A nice variety with some pretty holes to finish.
Hurtmore
Enjoyable round of golf, great value for money and good to see the course in good condition!
Second time on this course
Course conditions. Fairways - average; greens - excellent
Some of the directions between holes could be better.
Open rather than closed bins, so some rubbish blowing about.
We played as a 3 ball. The 4-ball in front of us were very slow,. Could have speeded up with some gimmes, as they were putting balls in from a foot away,w which made their generally slow play even slower.
Some challenging holes and rough can be penal, if you find your ball, that is
All in all, it is an enjoyable course with some easy and some challenging holes. Not too long, which helps higher handicappers.
Nice little course
Fun course. It was tipping it down but the greens and fairways held up well. Bunkers were swimming pools - but no fault of the course! Quite a short course - only one par 5 - but the holes were good fun if not the most challenging. Good pace of play - but not that surprising given very wet conditions - think a lot of people stayed away!
