Probably the worst course I’ve played in 5 years
Greens were horrific. Patchy, large areas of damage. Rock hard.
But greens aide a lot of hole were just in a wide open space. No shape. No excitement
Greens need some work
Played here several times before, this was probably the worst I’ve seen the greens.
GREENS ARE THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN
Wasn’t told about the irrigation problem they have had and the course being shut for weeks the greens are un playable
Poor greens
Tee to greens great course and great layout. Round was cheap so cannot complain, but such a shame that the greens are in bad condition. Greens are visually poor and it impacts the roll of the ball.
"It's like trying to putt inside the Grand Canyon"
This course has been severely let go.
Whilst the fairways were average, the greens were awful. Rock hard, clearly haven't been watered or remotely attended to, with countless craters across all of them. Shambles.
There is also an infestation of flies across the course for some reason, which is gross and off-putting whilst trying to play.
On the bright side, there are a lot of pheasants roaming the course which was fairly entertaining.
I played a council course the week before, and it was 10 times the course this is.
Such a shame.
Luton hoo
Staff friendly fairways good but the putting greens are disgracefull wouldn't pay the Money there charging when greens are that bad full of patches of dirt
Don’t bother
We didn’t know it at the time of booking but we found out the course was being closed towards the end of the year and you can tell. The course wasn’t in good condition. The fairway and tee boxes were mown but that is where the positives stop. The greens were awful. Huge areas completely bare, some were literally unplayable. Don’t bother.
Poor Greens
Played yesterday and was surprised at the course condition as always been if a high standard but the condition of the greens were very poor unlike I've seen before there
A course with potential..
My second time playing this course, the fairways were in a great condition. The greens very poor, patchy and full of bare soil patches. It’s such a shame as many of the holes are very scenic.
Navigating the course is also not player friendly, it would help to have more sign postings. The hole plaques to go be relevant information are easily missed on the tee boxes.
With a little bit of TLC to the greens, the course would be fantastic for its price point…
Bad
Having played Luton before I was looking forward to the round.
The 1st hole, 9th hole to 18 was in terrible condition.
Holf shoes pick up loose soil and so did trolley wheels.
The greens where covered in mud and spoke to pro shop who didn't really seem interested.
It was like so eone sprinkled bags of soil on top of the grass
Another disappointment is the are no hole numbers on the tee boxes or boards showing yardage
Extremely muddy & diseased greens
I've played Luton Hoo quite a few times in the past and it's usually been an enjoyable round and the course has been in decent condition. But unfortunately the round I played yesterday was spoilt because many of the holes were extremely muddy and nearly every single green had some sort of disease which made putting very uncertain. I would like to go back maybe in the summer but I'm not sure how much better it will be. The main positive was we were the only ones on the course and so we could play at our own pace. That's always a good thing!
Not looked after
Fairways and Greens were appalling. I give some leeway for the recent rain and bad weather but it was clear to see that not a lot of works been done on this course. Definitely needs to some reinvestment early spring to get it going for summer as it has potential to be a good course
Saturdays round
understand that the weather hasn't been the best for the ground to be upkept, we have played various courses around the same area over the last few weeks and this was in possibly the worst condition, which surprised me as its such a prestigious well kept manor house and gardens, the greens were badly kept with quite a lot of what looked like a disease or just very bad bald areas, off the greens were very boggy as well.
Poor fairways
On a number of the holes the fairways were in very poor condition with the grass sparce and therefore hitting off of bare mud. In many cases you were far better off hitting from the rough. Far from ideal!
On finishing there is nowhere to clean off the extensive mud from shoes, no brushes or air blowers.
Superb
Would highly recommend this course. Played it there for the first time. It’s amazing. Brilliant hole layout and no holes similar.
Very poor condition
Thought we had a deal at £30 .
We now know why , course should be closed , zero drainage , no clubhouse open , fairways like a mud pile , greens all patchy and poor condition , told us no trollies but seemed we only we had the memo , trollies everywhere and ripping up the already in poor condition course
Luton hoo
Very very muddy on most fairways and around the green , fog bound so couldn’t see the greens or t shots which couldn’t be helped . The mud made golf unpleasant on 50% of the holes , course should have been closed really , shame look like the course would be great in the summer
