Great fun
Love this course. Well maintained. Nice to play a course with such mature trees. Pace was good. Looking forward to be able to use all the amenities when Covid has done one
Over priced
Too pricey for what is essentially a straight up and down course with little character bar two or three holes with water
Not overly well sign posted on arrival as to the location once inside the gates
£8 for bacon muffin and coffee neither of which were great (two rashers and poor attempt at a flat white) bar attendee bright and welcoming h though
No range balls available just a hitting net
Toilets and changing rooms tired and small
The course itself pretty bland but made a challenge through strong winds on the day (obviously this isn’t in the control of the course) and improved the experience
Some of the greens had large pot holes in....?
Final nail in the coffin ordered a pint of larger a bottle of beer and one packet of crisps £13.20 (£1.20 service charge!) having waited ten minutes to get served
Luckily the company, chat and sunshine kept our spirits up
I wouldn’t recommend
lacklustre Luton
Played in a 2 ball today and decided to play Luton Hoo as I’ve not played the course in a few years. For the price I payed (£35 each) I expected the course to be in better state. The greens were in a poor condition with pitch marks all over them but the fairways were good. £35 is way too expensive in my opinion, winter rates should be reduced, then you would get more people playing the course as it was fairly quiet. The signage for the holes is poor and needs addressing. Just to point out, there are no bunkers on the course. The fairways we’re very wide and forgiving which suited my powerful slices. Sadly I won’t be in any rush to return to Luton Hoo.
Really good winter golf
Having played a few different courses recently I really enjoyed the round at Luton. Considering the time of year the course is in excellent condition with no temporary greens or tees and overall plying really well. Impressed with the condition of the greens and course in general and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Very Disappointing
To start with the signage is ridiculous on arrival directing you to the spa rather than the golf course as it suggests !. We were a 3 ball and had a discussion on the first tee with a group booked off at exactly the same tee time as ours as to who should go off first ( double booking ) We by the way had paid a discounted £31 per player through this app should be £40 on course . We were hampered by the group in front who were a very slow 4 ball but even that didn't detract from the fact that the course is very very poor . The difference between fairway and rough was negligible (left long ) the fairways were full of unrepaired divots and greens were not much better . I certainly won't be rushing back !!
Decent test
Played luton hoo a few times, really starting to enjoy it, its a long golf course, but very wide too, can use driver on most holes, you need to if u want your pars. Front 9 a few holes with water, back 9 just long and wide open, and its all in great condition.
I play off 10 and shot a not so disappointing 14 over, was drizzling non stop this time but still enjoyable.
Car park an issue
Busy course on Saturday afternoon. Challenging course in good condition, quite a bit of long grass, trees and water but no bunkers. Some aircraft noise. Not enough car parking.
Course in great condition
Enjoyed a good round at Luton Hoo today!
The course is in great condition...
Good but could be better
Best bits: Played an early morning round. Awful weather but the course held up well. Interesting track. No bunkers, lots of rough, long in places. Not so good: The pro shop failed to answer the phone a few time’s to solve a query after booking. The drinks cost post round was silly - a cup of tea and a coffee £8.50. Disappointing since overall it’s a nice place to book/play online.
Uninspiring course
Hard to find car park, course not well laid out and signed. Was dull and like playing on a football pitch. Bar expensive and poorly stocked. I have played better municipal courses was a shame as I travelled 1 1/2 hours and was looking forward to playing there.
Mr watson
Greens were horrendous, would have been better spending my £40 on something else Won't be returning
Brilliant !
Although it was horrendous conditions wind and rain we all enjoyed it very much !! Love playing Luton Hoo!!
Needs TLC
Just some gripes; terrible signposting once on the property. Went to wrong car park. A staff member kindly pointed us in the correct direction, and admitted the signposting had a lot to be desired. Bacon roll was very fatty. No urgency in the bar area, Staff just doing their job with not much customer service. Course was in OK condition, but 14th fairway was in a terrible state (during mid summer). The club house had a TV showing BBC Parliment, but did not have Sky Sports. It was the Sunday of The Open, so we left and went to another local golf club to watch the final round. Lost revenue for Luton Hoo! Could be so much better!
Awful pace of play. Waited at the first tee for twenty minutes after our tee time as two four balls in front stood around on the tee box waiting for their mates who were late to turn up. Finally got going but took us 50 minutes to play the first two holes due to groups in front. Ranger came and said that he'd spoken to them but they were having to look for lost balls so he couldn't do much else. Skipped out two holes to get past the groups and was much better. But still took 5 hours to get round. Painful round.
Greens are good but a bit scruffy off the fairway
Firstly, there are no bunkers on the course so it is set up as an inland links with long rough off the fairway. This can impact upon speed of play if you get stuck behind a couple of choppers! That said, the fairways were generous & the greens are good so it was generally an enjoyable round.
Nice bar area & restaurant available at the end of the round but a bit pricey £5.15 a pint!
Greens are in fantastic condition
Stunning setting a few groups infront of us slowed things down a bit, the rough is very long and finding a way word tee shot can be near on impossible but having said that really enjoyed the round.
