The Welcombe
Course in great condition. Very quiet so got round very quick. Value for money 2nd to none! !!!!
Welcome return to The Welcombe
Course was in the best condition I have seen it in.
Staff in the bar and pro shop were really friendly and helpful.
It has been a few years since Il last played here, I won't leave it so long next time.
Thank you Welcombe
good course but challenging
+Well designed,
+well maintained,
- but challenging suited to the better player
-Hilly, pretty tiring.
However currently, electric buggies hire rate is £35!
I would reccommend it
Good value
Nice course layout, with many different challenges. My only criticism would be a lack of sand in the bunkers which I wouldn't expect of a course of this quality.
Beware the thieving crow that stole my lunch out of the top of my bag on the eighth tee.
Great course but challenging
Played this course for the first time as a four ball of mixed handicaps. Course is undulating, long and very hilly so a buggy is highly recommended (and we almost always walk when we play anywhere).
Greens were slower than we are used to but not bad.
Course is very nice with lovely views and I would certainly recommend.
Staff could not be nicer.
Worth every penny.
Great Course
Good course - would recommend a buggy unless your fairly fit as lots of ups and downs.
Fairways good height and greens in great condition
Nice course, no good for disabled golfers.
Couldnt find disabled parking .Very pleasant in pros shop where we paid and my golf partner got the buggy .
We were met by a marshal on the first tee who was nice and told us about buggies not allowed to go on certain bits . Several times we got fairly close to the green as I needed to but then had to reverse to get back on right area which was very frustrating .Several of the tees were up steps which was very tiring .
All in all, lovely course but unfortunately will not be coming back again.
Very Slow but great condition.
Gave up after the 13th because the pace of play was extremely slow.
However the course was in great condition.
Just needs better management of tee times and pace of play.
Recommend booking a tee time later in the afternoon (4-5pm).
Excellent
I love this course, only played it 3 times but it is my favourite.. every hole is different. Good shots are rewarded and bad one's are punished. Good greens to..
Course in great condition but food selection & quality really lets it down.
This is a very nice course and is in great condition . It is unfortunate that the selection of food available after your game is very limited and quality poor, this element really lets it down and as part of a hotel this is a real disappointment.
Its been a while
I haven't played the course for a few years and its still as good as it ever was. The Greens were quick and true and the fairways lush. Its a good test of golf, with a mix short and long 3's and 4's and some monstrous par 5's. The young lad in the shop wasnt very welcoming and was in a mood about something. The bar staff were very friendly, but the beer was average, the food looked good but we did'nt eat. We were doing to get a buggie, but it was £35 so passed. The pace of play was very slow, don't play as a 2 ball.
Fantastic all round
Fantastic value at a very well presented laid out course with its own unique challenges.
Thankyou
A warm Welcombe
We have played this course several times over the years and it nxver fails to impress. Set amongst the rolling Welcombe hills overlooking Stratford and with far distant views of Warwick. The course is very well kept with very consistent greens. The layout offers a good challenge for us high handicappers without setting out to destroy our fragile game. Highlights are the 8th offering a wonderful elevated tee and the 17th set in front of the hotel with its long challenging drive over water. Facilities are very good as was the tasty sausage batches sampled before tee off. Staff were helpful and friendly. All in all a great day at a great price
Exceptional... apart from the golf
After hitting a picture perfect drive onto the 1st fairway, I thought I was well in. The course was immaculate and tidy. The sun was out but the wind was up. Unfortunately that's where my good golf stopped.
The course and greens in particular were in excellent condition. The views of the countryside are wonderful, especially from some of the elevated tees. Beware the wind plays a massive part in shot selection and club length.
Lovely sunny day at welcome
Great course warm friendly people , course really well. Kept , greens great .
Welcombing Welcombe
A course I've wanted to play for a long time, and I wasn't disappointed. The Pro in the shop was extremely friendly and helpful as was the course marshal.
The course was in reasonable condition for the end of the winter season, and no doubt will be improved greatly with a summer cut to the fairways and the greens. The layout is good with lots of on course info and thought into making it as enjoyable as possible.
The club house and pro shop are both appealing and welcoming. The prices for drinks are to be expected for a 4 star hotel however the prices of food on the Winter menu seemed very reasonable.
I would highly reccomend visiting for a round of golf, or even uptaking one of the golf packages.
Weekend golf at its best
Played with a friend who had not played this course before.
An absolute pleasure.
Great condition for the time of year.
On arrival found all the staff very welcoming & friendly, on playing this course on February 16th found the course a good challenge & very scenic would certainly recommend , myself & my 3 guests look forward to playing this course again.
