Decent layout. Poor maintenance.

Decent layout with good variety of holes and pleasant views. Unfortunately the course is poorly maintained. Long grass on the fairways with mud a constant feature on the ball. No sand in the bunkers whatsoever. Don’t play if you normally play anywhere decent, it will be hard going and not enjoyable.

Good value challenge

The course wasn’t in great condition but remains quite a tough challenge with one or two really interesting holes. Overall great value.

Great value for the layout

If Merrist Wood sorted their bunkers out they could charge double and you wouldn't question it. It's got a few simple holes but most of them are varied and challenging, and the greens were pretty good bearing in mind the weather we've had. The fairways were long in places but to be honest. for the money on a Sunday morning, I wouldn't grumble as its a very good course.

Quick and cheap

Fairways quite poor condition. Greens a bit rough in places. Bunkers unplayable.

Lovely course layout and very cheap round at £20.

If I’d paid £40 I’d be unhappy but for £20 this was very good.

Horrendous condition

I played the course on Sunday, the round took me and one other 5 hours to complete Because nobody would let us through, furthermore the condition of the fairway was terrible on every hole, it looked like the course had been trampled by cows. Would not be returning again, very disappointed and a waste of money

Unexpectedly challenging

I’ve been playing a lot more golf recently and felt like I’m getting much better (15 hcp) but playing this course was unexpectedly testing. I played a few days after the first significant rainfall in months so the ground was soft and the grass long & so lush that the fairway was like light rough. Consequently I found I was having to play shots 1-2 clubs up because there was so little roll. Greens are heavily defended with bunkers, and fairway bunkers on longer holes are just where you don’t want them to be. for approach shots. Greens were in good condition and slow-med but bunkers have packed, coarse sand and were frequently full of water. Tee boxes were in a bad state, usually bare earth & too soft to compress the ball with irons off the deck. The course is also cross-crossed with streams & ditches. If you hit the ball long and high with accurate distance control then you’ll be OK. If you.like to play lower, running shots you may struggle, like I did. Friendly welcome at the clubhouse and although they don’t do a hot lunch., I did appreciate that they’re a dog-friendly course. I picked up a LOT of litter on the way ‘round.

Great course

Great course to play on, excellent price for a 4 ball although there was some pressure from the players behind us but this was not under our control as there was a 4 ball in front. I think it would e best to space out these 4 balls a little more apart to keep a good pace.

Dying course

Didn’t realise the place was due to close, looks like the course hasn’t really been touched and the greens especially were bad.

Shame as you can see that with TLC the course would be a nice track.

Don't bother!

I have played this course many times over the years and unfortunately the new owners have seriously let it go!

Bunkers not raked even though we were third out for the day, broken tees literi g every tee box, tee boxes like sand pits and the greens were very patchy. Didn't see one green keeper on the whole round. Needs a lot of attention.

Needs care

Nice layout, some interesting holes, but in desperate need of TLC. Greens watered but inconsistently, tees bone dry and uncared for, fairways similarly dry. Friendly pro but the clubhouse has seen better days. Would be nice if they cleared the goose droppings from the greens.

Interesting and challenging course. Good value

Nice mixture of interest and challenge. Quite scenic.

Fairways were very dry and fast, a lot of geese and their droppings due to the number of lakes.

Greens were quite good given the very dry conditions.

Very good value.

Surprising

Great layout and fun to play. Greens well looked after and tee boxes left tidy.

Heat affecting the fairways a lot which is understandable. Bunkers lacked sand in places, but you shouldn’t be in them in the first place!

Solid course, good value

Good value for £20 afternoon twilight tee time, beautiful surroundings and broadly well kept course. Some lakes with geese and accompanying excrement, the 11th is covered in it. Played there twice, will definitely play again.
