Great course. Great staff.

I played here again after such a positive experience last month. The course conditions were good, we started in rain which cleared up after the third hole. The course was mostly dry aside from the 17th. My friend was delayed due to local traffic problems, not the only one. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating given the problem. I recommend this course.

Good course, great round of golf

I am a member of a nearby club and felt like a change. I played with another member of my club. We enjoyed our round and lunch afterwards in the club house. The course was for the most part well maintained and you could see work ongoing whilst we were playing. A nice course to play, very enjoyable. The halfway Cafe was closed but we got a coffee in the club house. If we had wanted to eat at that point there wasn't an option, we didn't so for us it wasn't important. Staff were very nice and helpful. We had people behind us in a buggie which made them very visible to us. I recommend it.

Torture

Lovely day, nice course, friendly and helpful staff. SLOW PLAY NIGHTMARE. Far too many novice players with no idea of 'playing through', all booked on at too short intervals. Came off after 6 holes and had to skip 5 holes and play 1 - 4 and 18th later to get the full 18 holes in. Even then got stuck behind slow fourball second time round. Very frustrating.

MottramHall

Arrived in a heavy shower, car park was full but found a spot next to the golf shop. Went inside booked on the course with teetimes easy to do. Was told it was very busy so expected a long round, we were only a two ball. Got the the first tee on time had to wait a few minutes for the fourball to hit their second shots. They let us through on the next hole. We found the front nine quite easy walking and some interesting holes. The second nine a totally different course the set out was more interesting and difficult. Still very enjoyable. We will be returning soon!

Angry and disappointed

On the face of it this looks like a very attractive course , which it is , its the organisation which let it down.

Our 3 ball was made up of experienced golfers handicaps 7-15 of which two past captains , not novices , having played in many courses in the UK and abroad, really looking forward to the game.

The starter was unsure about our booking, it took 20 minutes to sort out even though it had been booked on line and we had checked in with the pro who asked us to head for the tee in our buggies.

We were finally told we could tee off to then be stopped as a player had to catch up with the three ball ahead as there was a competition on ...the round took just short of five hours , by the time we finished we just didn't feel like complaining - who to ?

The GPS tracking/course info on the buggies was almost illegible as the font was so small

Won't be back

Not as good as it used to be.

I've played Mottram Hall in the past, it was around 1 and a half years ago, back then the course was in really nice condition and very well presented with friendly staff.

This time round i was disappointed, they had crammed far too many golfers onto the course and the pace was extremely slow, everywhere you looked their was golfer after golfer, numerous four balls, just basically ram-packed.

The condition of the tee areas for such a so called prestigious golf course were poor, where they wanted you to tee the ball the ground was uneven and badly chopped up, it's hardly surprising if they are letting too many people onto the course. The greens were also very slow, quite a few of them had unrepaired pitch marks, do they not have a maintenance team that sorts out these kind of things rather than leave them ?

I won't be going back anytime soon as their are far better courses in the area that are in better condition where the pace of play is much better.

Great course but 12 holes took 4.5 hours!

I've played Mottram a number of times, it is a great course, with a wonderful and challenging back 9.

Unfortunately we didn't get to play it, as 12 holes too us almost 5 hours, so we had to leave. They had so many people out on the course taking far too long, t

real shame as I have previously enjoyed playing there.

We were watching 2 other groups tee off on every tee as it was so crammed.

BJW Mottram Hall

Course was in exceptional condition. Greens and fairways excellent.

Was not amused by, I presume, some visiting golf society using the golfing buggies as 'go carts'!

Great day

I regularly use tee off times to try different courses in my area. I've played mottram hall a few times now and has always been in good condition so was looking forward to my round with a couple mates on the 1st of June. When we reached the first green I was impressed with the condition of the green and surrounding fringes and each hole continued in same fashion. Each green, fairway, first cut were all in excellent condition and pitching around the greens a pleasure. The green keepers had worked wonders and done a fantastic job. Well done keep it up !!

Mottram Hall

The rough was far to long. If you were a little wayward you could not find your ball. Not good for a high handicap golfer

Tough Rough

Course always looks immaculate, but rough is penal, so to easy to lose balls, not far from the fairway.

Greens were excellent, tee boxes terrible.

Also, £17.50 for a burger. Save your money and go to Nobu.

Overall verdict:- not bad. Play The Mere for the same money.

Top course.

Excellent course, fantastic greens, great layout, would be quite tough for a high handicap golfer especially the back nine.

The only thing letting the course down was the tee boxes, they were more like you would see at the end of September not the middle of May but very good value for money through teetimes.

Nice course and layout

First time I've played here but i really enjoyed the layout of the course. The greens were immaculate if not a touch slow and the fairways were very well kept.

The putting area was very nice and the club house and pro shop were excellent.

The only criticisms i have are that the driving range is a bit of a walk to have a loosen up before playing and also the pace of play was very slow.

The course was so busy that we were waiting to hit our shots on every single shot with no chance of being played through.

That being said it took 4 1/2 hours for 2 of us to play a round, but this is about an hour longer than it'd usually take us.

However i would definitely like to play this course again and the rate which we played made it fantastic value for money

Lovely course and nice conditions. Takes a while to get round even though we had no traffic. The course layout improves on the back 9 and overall it's a good fair challenge

Superb course

A truly excellent course. Great variation, true greens, something for everyone. Just wish it hadn't been blowing a gale the day we played, made some of the harder holes a bit of a bind and really punished anything remotely loose off the tee. But that aside, a thoroughly enjoyable round. Looking forward to going back
