Unplayable greens
A message popped up saying the course was on temporary greens. I called to check - they said work had completed and all greens were operational. Technically true - but in reality they were unplayable - SO SLOW and bobbly. The rest of the course was in fine condition. But o would not return with greens in such poor condition it was more like mini golf than proper golf.
A little Gem
Very pleased to have discovered this course. Perfect course to hone your skills
Short tidy course
I have played Oakland Park before so knew what to expect. It is a relatively short compact course with opportunities to score well.
While the course was in good shape my game wasn’t great as the wind affected my accuracy.
Very enjoyable and excellent value on a hot deal.
Muddy fairways
The tee greens were cut nice and ran good, but thats where it ends im afraid. I know we've had rain , but to charge £23.99 on a hot deal for muddy fairways with no drainage system does not represent value for money. It was so bad it was laughable. Thankfully the hot deal tee time was paid for out of my monthly hot deal credit because I would have walked off after hole 2 and asked for a refund.
Tee boxes
Understand we are in winter conditions but it would of been nice to be told that we would be playing of matts on every hole before we paid. Only got told when arriving and booking into the club shop.
Oaklands
Nice sunny day among loads of wet ones, expected a wettish course. Was very wet, but having to look for balls on fairways where they weren't cut isnt great. can understand why they are not cut, but don't charge full rates, and let people know how it is. Would not have played or turned up if we were told in advance.
Bar manager was great, hence higher staff ratings.
Not great
A very short flat course with way too many par threes. Course layout is horrendous. Nice clubhouse though
Slow
It's a fairly easy course and is often filled with fairly new golfers. Hence the slow round. If your not in a rush and fancy an easy round of golf, then this will suit you.
Good short course
This is an enjoyable course which requires a variety of shots and thought. Driver is rarely needed, although a few risk and reward holes will tempt it out of the bag.
The only quibbles are the average driving range to warm up (no practice net here) and the poor pace of play, although a recently added notice on the club website attempts to address this.
Course has been left to rot
I’ve played here a few times and although the course is a bit short it’s always fun to play. I know it’s been a particularly dry summer and all courses have suffered but the level of deterioration here is on another level. The greens are unplayable, the tee boxes have been left to rot without a single place to tee up on most of them and the bunkers are in a truly appalling state. It appears there has been next to no maintenance on this course. However, the fee for a round is the same as ever; not expensive admittedly, but terrible value for a course which is virtually unplayable. Very disappointing..
What’s happening
This used to be a lovely little course. I know it’s been dry but the greens were in a terrible condition. The bunkers had matting protruding which nearly broke my wrist as I unknowingly connected with it before my ball. The clubhouse staff are great and food is good but it seems the course is lacking investment. Such a shame
Oakland Park
Friendly staff and a lovely course with 3 long and sweeping holes to finish up with. Some lovely water features on the way round and some testingly placed bunkers present the odd challenge.
Great, fun course, slow pace of play
Excellent course conditions considering recent dry weather with the exception of a couple of heavily top-dressed greens.
BUT atrocious pace of play for a short but tricky course. Possibly due to a weekly medal/roll-up, maybe worth avoiding on a Monday lunchtime/early afternoon.
