Orchardleigh - A tale of wasted potential
Beautiful rolling greens, firm trimmed fairways, considered and careful maintenance to challenge its players. These are NOT phrases I would use to describe Orchardleigh golf club. Driving through the gates of the estate resembles the view on the 17th tee at Augusta on a blustery day. Little care seems to be given to the impressions made to both paying members and visitors. Unfortunately, this mild misdemeanour was not put to rights by the attitude of staff. All seemed to be “fed up”. Maybe this was due to the course condition that they too were experiencing. Greens like fairways, fairways like rough and rough like cabbage. Having played other courses in the local area recently, I was bitterly disappointed when faced with putts similar to the slopes that downhill mogul skiers face during the Winter Olympics. Despite this, I believe that this course has all the potential to be fantastic. Beautiful views, a wonderful plot of land and a superb course layout. Maybe, with a little more care from those in charge Orchardleigh can be returned to its best. Until that happens… AVOID.
Great course with some brilliant layouts
Great course that is much improved over the last few years. Deals with wet weather alot better than it use to and apart from a few greens that need some work, the course was in great condition.
Very nice course
Course was lovely disappointed there was no buggys as I struggled to walk the Course but the food was not up to much we asked for chicken strips with a chilli sauce in stead of that we had a basket of chips with chicken strips on top no chilli sauce not good presention I had a sausage sandwich with cheese on the sausages were hard but the Course was very good
Great Day
This is a course that has plenty of challenges, nice setting the course is in good condition, staff are friendly, a great day thank you orchardleigh will definitely be back
Great course and value for money
This is a gem in the Somerset countryside. Yes it is off the beaten track but worth the travel. Great course maintained to high levels with a really nice club house and friendly pro shop. We are coming back and the value for money is excellent. If this course was near a motorway or large town you would be paying 70 pounds plus.
Great course
4 of us played here in June, nice course good condition, nice set up. Will be back
Hidden Gem
What an incredible and picturesque golf course. Its not long and not overly challenging but it’s a joy to play. Will definitely be going back.
Golf
Great layout, fairways were very muddy as there was a lot
of rain the weeks earlier, the greens were superb, and would recommend too carry your golf bag in those conditions. Will definitely play the course again when it’s a bit drier and play off proper tee boxes
Good course layout
The prev wks rain did leave some fairways bit muddy but enjoyed the round. Quite a demanding walk round but thankfully not far from greens to next tee.
Orchard leigh
This golf course is a park land course in very good condition with well maintained greens a open ish course but with any put yourself out of position it will cost you.
Excellent value.
Fantastic as always
A great value for money course. Fantastically looked after from tee to green and a great array of holes.
Always love coming back here
10/10
LOVELY COURSE
Great course, lovely setting only disappointment was the slow play as we were queuing on virtually every tee but i understand there was a society out in front.
Greens played great and well looked after.
