Great test
Great course layout with some tricky pin positions. Fairly flat front 9 with a more hilly back 9.
Greens and Fairways in Great Condition
Course is in great condition , couple of areas of minor damage that need to be fixed but generally very good. The only real issue is with the bunkers which are in need of some TLC. Undefined rough edges, areas of sand outside the bunkers where the raking machine drives in / out, really they are in need of a proper raking by ground staff as most are very firm (like concrete under a small layer of sand) , and sone of them have the lining damaged / visible
Buggies rented this time and the GPS was very good and configured to avoid drivers getting too close to greens.
All in a great course and excellent value for money in the afternoons
Lovely design
You can see the care that has gone into the design of course. Nick Faldo’s layout is great. However, the greens were covered in weeds, and the pace of play behind the seniors team was awful
Well set up course but greens lack attention
Have played the course many times over the years. Well set up and normally reasonably looked after. Just think you need to get tee boxes and especially greens in a decent state (and also bunkers). The rest should follow. That said the twilight fee represented good value for money. The early morning fee not so much. It would help if people repaired their pitch marks. Good bar and food facilities in the 19th hole
Good value public track
Course was in better condition than when i played a year ago. Greens were very slow but in reasonable condition. It's a public course so you can't compare it to private clubs but we had a good day. Some very interesting holes and as a twoball we got around in under 3 hours. I would have given it an extra mark but the pins were placed only a couple of feet on the greens .
Enjoyable round
I played panshanger today after not being able to play golf due to injury for 3 months. First time playing the course. My handicap is 8. First time playing a public golf course too. For a public golf course I thought it was really good. We are coming up to the end of July so the course was at its peak with conditions. I was +2 after 9 holes but then I found the back 9 to be more challenging. It became hotter as the day went on is my only excuse. People were friendly and let me through on more than one occasion. It's says pace of play is 4 hours 10 on the scorecard but I played it in 3 hours 20 minutes. Bunkers were average but other than that pleased with the course and will be returning at some point in the near future.
Best public course around
Course is in great condition and normally this time of year the greens aren’t great but very impressed compared to last summer. Nothing the course can do but 4 balls and slow players need to wave people through.
Great value
Great value for money. Overall very fun to play and quite a forgiving course for a beginner like me.
only lost one ball so that was a result. We stopped and had a drink and pizza after was very nice also will definitely play again.
Great track
For the price, this is an exceptional golf course - will be back!
Greens too slow
The overall condition of the course was Ok but greens were very slow which made putting extremely difficult. Also pace of play was slow due to what appeared to be training of youngsters on course. Surely doing this in the middle of a busy Saturday afternoon was not fair to other players behind them on the course. This did spoil the front nine.
Great course for the money
Excellent facilities very friendly staff, course in great nick.
Great course
Course is in great condition & a test for any handicap.
The only things to gripe about was the holes were not cut very well & not much sand In the bunkers, but we paid £17pp so that has got to be the best value for money in the area.
Very good value for money
Good course with some fun up and downhill holes. Fairways and greens in good condition. Some bunkers could use a bit of work. Very good value for money
Lots of walking
A nice quiet course but alot of walking up and down hills but everyone was in great spirits around us all
The best public course.
Quite simply the best public course I've found in north London.
Great course
Good course, in great condition. Pace through the back 9 is very slow.
Brilliant value/ Lovely course and experience
It was the second time I had played Panshager, I am a decent golfer (WHI 7) but the course was too tough for me!
Very picturesque - but tight - greens could be quicker and there could be more sand in the bunkers - but really nice people and excellent "19th Hole"!
Golf weekend in Welwyn Garden City
Myself and friend who both moved away from the area over 30 years ago came to visit the area and play a couple of the courses we used to play as teenagers.
Panshanger has matured nicely and is a good test of golf.
Given the amount of rain we have had the greens and fairways were in good condition.
The tees were quite poor and very uneven.
Our issue was general etiquette especially the 3 ball behind us.
The course was busy so we had to wait al lot between shots. There was a 3 and 4 ball in front of us.
The group behind played their tee shots twice whilst we were still in range and didn’t even shout fire with balls landing around 10 meters from us.
On the 3rd occasion their ball hit my friend in the chest.
We had words with them and said the behaviour was unacceptable.
After the round we reported them in the pro shop as we felt someone needed a word with them before they seriously injure someone.
The guy in the shop (not the pro) was quite rude and said what do you expect me to do about it. We asked him what he would do if it happened to him and his reply was “I’d hit it straight back at them “. Not very helpful!
Shan’t be returning
