Great day out. Recommend a visit

Friendly staff both in the Proshop and the clubhouse. Quick service for food but it was quite quiet. Course was in good condition but the greens were not as fast as we expected. We had a buggy , bit rickety, this time which was a boon as it's hilly in places. Brilliant views as the weather was very good if a little breezey.

Soggy but enjoyable....

Played here while on holiday in the Lakes. Weather was very wet (yes I know its the Lakes!) but the course was in great condition. Fairways and greens were tip top, literally have nothing I can complain about. Staff were friendly and plenty of facilities (range, putting green etc) available on site.

Would love to play here again when its a bit dryer.

Great layout but greens recovering

I really enjoy the layout and the different challenges of Penrith golf course.I try to get down for a few games a year. The course itself was in really nice condition for the time of year but the greens seemed to still be recovering from the work done for the start of the season. Slow and bumpy but sure they’ll be up to standard after another few cuts. Everything else was great. Very friendly atmosphere with great views

Greens not yet ready for season

Overall enjoyable experience - Pro shop and members friendly and allowed me to play throguh. Pace of play was good, surprised that I completed my round in under 2.75hours despite competition groups still on the course.

There was a strong breeze that made for some challenging club/shot selection which I expect is normal for such an elevated course.

The big let down was the condition of the greens. Preferred lies were still on but the greens preparation must be behind schedule. All the greens had recently been aerated and the grass was long and rolled so it was nigh impossible to get a true roll on the surface. Even putts of 3 feet would deflect off line.

All in all, I would play again given the opportunity but in my opinion there are better alternatives in the area.

Golf at 1000 feet

The course was just coming out of its winter slumbers and we did not see it at its best. Some temporary tees and greens but generally the course was in good condition and dry underfoot. Would love to play later in the year. Great welcome and friendly staff and members.

Great views

Unrivalled distant views of the Lake District fells. A good layout with generally easy walking. There were 2 or 3 temporary greens due to drainage work and a few tee mats but it was generally quite dry. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back.

Throughly Enjoyable

I booked a time through Golfnow for only £21(excellent value) This course is a well laid out mature parkland course. The condition of both the greens and fairways for the time of year was excellent. I had a delicious breakfast afterwards in a modern clubhouse with good facilities. Both the pro and the bar staff were very welcoming. I would definitely play again if I was in the area. I reckon the course would be fantastic during the summer months.

Hidden gem

A well presented course, requiring different shot shapes to get the best out of the course.

Easy to book on line, friendly and helpful head pro and good service and good food in the clubhouse

I would recommend it for a day out.

Very Good

The course is well maintained and in very good condition. As a wayward and short driver I found the course tricky. Overall though it was very enjoyable and highly recomended.

Enjoyable round

Enjoyable course with great views of the fells. Not the most challenging of courses but this was a holiday round and that was perfect for what we wanted! A relaxed easy round is nice sometimes. Helpful staff and friendly bar afterwards. Course in good nick. Good value for money and would happily play when in the area again. Feel a little mean giving 4 stars as prob worth an extra half.

Great Track

I have played Penrith GC many times for a reason. The layout & quality of this course is so good. Stunning views just add to the whole experience. The pro shop is well stocked as is the bar. Whilst we didn't eat on the day, previous meals have been great. Pro & bar staff very friendly & helpful. Overall great day out & would thoroughly recommend.
