Nice looking course and layout
For the price cannot argue. Played in a 2 ball and used a buggy, but a 4 ball group of members refused to let us play through after telling us we would only get stuck behind the group in front.... not sure that’s how it works but ok. Greens been spiked so putting was disrupted all round. Would still recommend as it’s a good course with a nice layout.
Bad timing
Played alone never got let through
Therefore missed many holes
Don’t play alone
GREAT CONDITION FOR TIME OF YEAR
Course in really good condition considering the recent weather, greens excellent.
Temporary tees but understandable as preparing for the start of season, only down point was the weather as it was really windy.
Fantastic. Much better than expected
Not played here for 5+ years. Really wet day and largely had the course to ourselves.
Despite being still winter and raining the fairways are in great condition and the greens better than some of the £70+ / round courses I play. Will be back in the summer to play the course when the sun shines and looking forward to it.
January Golf
Delighted to find a course that was fully open in the winter months. When i booked all holes and greens open. Heavy overnight rain meant 4 temps but this did not spoil the enjoyment. Course was playable and staff very helpful.
Very heavy rain when playing this course ,some greens were flooded but any course would be the same, the fairways stood up to the heavy downpours, pro shop very friendly and helpful ,bar and catering good.Ate a quick snack before playing then after round hoped to have something to eat which was 16.01 when approached bar with order only to be told the kitchen closed at 16.00? All in all would recommend course and facilities to friends
GOOD COURSE
PREVIOUSLY PERFECT CONDITION ONE MONTH AGO THUS RETURN VISIT BUT ON THE DAY TEMPORARY GREENS DUE TO TYNING/SANDING OF ALL ORIGINAL GREENS.BUT DID VENTURE OUT TO ENJOY THE DAY AS WEATHER EXCELLENT
Very enjoyable course.
We had a 3.40 pm tee off time on a bank holiday weekend. There were three of us and we teed off approximately 5 minutes early. Pace of play was excellent and we completed our round in about 3 hours 20 minutes. Course was in a very good condition, although the first cut of rough could probably of done with some attention, greens were playing very well and fairways were in good condition.
Altogether it was a very enjoyable afternoons golf. We did not use the off course amenities so cannot comment on them.
Will definitely be returning as it was excellent value for money.
Disappointed
We played a fourball and pai £64 in advance, we booked in got paper score cards! The guy in shop mentioned Nothing of any temp-greens!! We found out later that regularly if preceded by rain then they close off a lot off the greens ..... in winter you expect it but 08 June it came as a a very unwelcome surprise!! Only four of 18 greens were on however the others were ok
VERY GOOD
THE COURSE ITSELF IS WELL LAID OUT AND CHALLENGING. At the time we had heavy downpours causing flooded greens but the groundsmen were very quickly on the scene to squeegee the greens . by the time we reached the third green from the flooding the greens were once again dry and playable. All in all a very good experience.
Good Course & friendly staff
Lovely but testing course. Some demanding par 4's. Heavy rain for a couple of holes. It was great to see Greenkeeping staff out dealing with excess water on a couple of the greens. Please dont think the course doesn't drain well, the rain was extremely heavy.
After finishing the golf the clubhouse staff were friendly & welcoming.
Would certainly go back.
Beautiful, taxing, long
Beautiful course, immaculately maintained. A few very demanding, plenty to think about holes with the odd straight but long par 4. Wonderful staff and very friendly and patient members who put up with our slightly slower pace. Would hugely recommend but would stress this course is very challenging for more inexperienced golfers.
relaxing round of golf
Prenton is one of those courses you immediately like. The course layout is one of the best I've played. Travel distance from green to the next tea is minimal, allowing you to crack on with your round without any hold ups.
The course condition was excellent, with everything neat and well groomed. The first few holes will lull you into a false sense of security, as to me, and my playing partners, it seemed to get increasingly more difficult. We' ll know better next time, and there will be a next time! Cant wait to play it again!
Great course, very friendly staff in a lovely location
My wife and I played Prenton golf club for the first time on Wednesday, it will not be our last. All staff and golfing members were unbelievably friendly and made us feel most welcome.
The course was in great condition, the greens were true and quick.
Fully recommend Prenton golf club to anybody wishing to enjoy a lovely parkland course with friendly staff, when visiting the North West of England.
Could be a regular visitor ..?
Was looking fwd to playing another James Braid designed course, my previous club Irvine Bogside is one of JB's best!
Played late Saturday afternoon in glorious sunshine for time of year and thoroughly enjoyed the course with it's mix of short & long holes. The course was well manicured and in very good condition, given there's not much heat/growth yet. Greens were a bit bumpy but for time of year that's to be expected, they are also huge! There's a few blind holes with hidden burns/ponds that are waiting to catch you out but adds to the enjoyment. The clubhouse is very nice, locker room is immaculate and bar very modern with friendly staff. We played a two ball in just over 3 hrs and I pretty much played to my 9 handicap, I could be a regular when down visiting my daughter.
Give this a visit if your in the area, you won't be dis-appointed.
Prenton
2nd time played. Decent course, well maintained, immaculate greens, not busy. Cant complain for £21
