Slow Play spoils this course and it’s a recurring problem.
I do like this course, but sadly the slow play spoils the enjoyment of it. 4 hours for a 2 ball because of slower 4 balls further up the course not letting faster matches through, when they have clear holes in from of them. This isn’t the first time at this course that this has happened and it does leave you feeling negative about what is a really good course to play in my locality.
Rufford Park
Played Rufford Park which was in good condition for the time of year. Some tee off mats and temporary greens but this didn't ruin are day as most of the course was first class. Would recommend this course to all level of golfers.
Rufford.
For the time of year the course was in excellent condition. Although the greens were heavily sanded and had been hollowed tined recently they weee fairly quick and true.
Rufford in March
Great day, course was in good condition only one temporary green in ok condition. Course was mainly dry. Still had a lot of temporary winter tees, the odd one of the main tees were open. Like many courses the tees need work at this time of year to level them and repair them ready for season. It does make a difference if the tee box is in good condition. Like many the temporary tees take a lot of wear. The temporary tees need to be made so you can stick your tee in for your ball. Too many you can’t get a tee in. There needs to be some material like a dart board below the green covering so you can stick a tee in where you want.
Good first round of the year
Enjoyed a great 4 ball with my mates. The course was in good condition for the time of the year, however, we were on some temporary greens, mats and a shortened course but this did not ruin our game. Overall, a very enjoyable day out.
End of winter round
Relative to the weather conditions, an enjoyable round. I’d expect the course to come to life in the next 4-6 weeks. Two temp greens and many mats on the tee.
Pace of play was 4 hours which was ok on the day.
Great Value Course
Played Rufford several times as a visitor & it never fails to deliver 👌… the course is always in excellent condition & in it’s surroundings gives you the impression you are playing one of the more up market courses .
Staff & members always very friendly , highly recommended 👍
Course very soggy with 4 temps but perfectly playable
Considering the conditions, course remained open. We used mats to protect the course. Very soggy in places but this is unavoidable with the recent rain. Food good and staff friendly as always.
Best value and atmosphere in and around Nottingham
As per my ratings the only downside was the pace of play, maybe a victim of there own success with how busy the course was. Brilliant and challenging course with the great course design. Greens were brilliant, especially for the awful weather the area has had recently. Will definitely be playing this again.
Great to have been welcomed on and walk down to the 1st tee by the president of the club. Would recommend to anyone
Good round spoilt by slow play
With it being winter it was a little wet underfoot, as expected and all greens were “winter” and could have been a little smoother. We were a 2 ball and held up by a 4 ball who seemed oblivious to letting us through even though they had no one in front of them, so our round was slightly spoilt by that. We have often experienced slow play on this course on many occasions which is a shame as it takes the edge off of what is a very good course.
Rufford Park Golf and Country Club,
The course was closed due to snow. We have rearranged for the 19th of Jan 2026. It’s usually a great place to play.
Booked a last minute tee time at Rufford park after reading review bout it being a,good winter course only to be told after arrival only 3greens in normal play and 15 temporary greens . Would not have booked if I had known this ,
Great winter course
One of the few courses that play well in the winter, only issue is the slow play which, in the winter you run out of daylight hours to get round in time before it gets dark
Given all the rain we’ve had in recent weeks the course is in good nick only one green on temp due to work being carried out all other greens good for this time of year young lad in pro shop very helpful will definitely be back in warmer weather great value for money on the hot deal ⛳️👍🏻
Lovely Course, but slow play
Really lovely course and always in great condition. The only thing that spoils it is the slow pace of play. 4 hours for a 2 ball not great, sadly it always seems to be a problem at Rufford with 3 balls and 4 balls not showing proper etiquette in letting 2 balls through even when stacking up on the tees. Even noticed a 5 ball playing which could have been the reason for the holdups today.
Great Round at Rufford
Played the course when visiting the area, shot my best round. Started the day with a torrent of rain, first hole was damp, next 17 were in glorious sunshine. The 17th hole is the signature and very much a challenge. Worth it and will come back to play.
