Great course, eye pleasing and unique.
First golf course review wirtten by myself -
First course worth writing about that isn't popularly known.
Met with a warm welcome, informed about some space around my tee time if I wanted to get off earlier/later.
Visited the large undulated chipping and putting green before heading to the range, where I was firing balls through the rugby posts and at the many distance checkers, treelined and quiet, a nice range.
Course plays fairly open but lines still need to be decided from the tee, not too long so big hitters can leave the driver in the bag but there is a couple forced carries of 160-210 if you want to take the right line.
Excellent undulation around many greens forcing a planned approach.
Some steep hills but well spread out so not physically demanding.
Especially impressed with the par 3's and the stretch from 4- 6, like playing in a private forest.
Greens are a little firm but receptive enough, some lovely multi-tered challenges amongst them.
Playing off 9.1 I shot 80 gross, 71 nett, and left some out there, will definitely be back for those shots next time I am near Nottingham.
Reccommend to all.
A gem
Great course. Lovely condition, really interesting holes that challenge all abilities.
Good course only negative was the stare if the bunkers - not raked and most of the par3 greens were covered in unrepaired pitch marks
good course great conditions
Interesting course which you a need to play a couple of times to work out the approaches and shot positioning but I will be coming back and enjoyed the day. Friendly staff in the bar with good food and very helpful in the Pro Shop. Well worth a visit
Rufford definitely not rough
Lovely course, good challenge but not too difficult. Great view from the clubhouse, staff were friendly and helpful , let us start on the 10th to avoid being behind a group of juniors on a lesson. Absolutely be back
Great experience
Fantastic golf course, Pro really helpful and friendly. Course in brilliant condition, no 2 holes the same and all really interesting. Would love to live close enough to be a member.
Good variations on holes - lots of change in level. Woodland course open to positive play and birdie chasing. Or wide enough to be accessible to mid to high Handicappers.
Really enjoyable first visit
This was my first visit to this course along with my son. I have to say how friendly and helpful the staff were and that atmosphere was all around. Despite looking really busy we got away in from of a society and the pace of play was really good. Lovely looking course that I would describe as easy to get around but still challenging especially if you don't know the nuances of the course. I would highly recommend
Great day
Lovely course, very forgiving for mid handicap golfers
Course was good
Course was great condition, unfortunately stuck behind a society. Cheap buggy and nice pro and great staff, course played well!
1st class club
The club is very well laid out, the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The course was challenging, and views has you walked round we’re lovely . We had very challenging weather on the day with near gale force winds and rain. This just made the day even more memorable. Will definitely recommend 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great winter venue
Played rufford today and course was in its usual great condition . Greens were very good for this time of year was one winter green but it’s a proper green which is only used in winter on a par 3 . Some tees were forward for there usual positions but not by too far , staff friendly pace of play was good
Excellent course, great condition for time of year and all greens in play, recommended to all levels of golfer.
Much improved Greens
The course was in very good condition, with the greens in excellent order, much improved from when I last played the course 6 months ago. The only downside of this course is the slow pace of play, which is testament to the popularity of the course! Overall, it is well worth a visit and I will be returning soon.
Excellent course and value
First visit to Rufford. Lovely, picturesque setting on a cold but sunny day. Professional was very friendly and informative.
Course in very good condition, some challenging holes especially the 17th! Greens ran true, good bunkers ; only slight negative were the tee blocks which were a bit uneven but for November, not a surprise.
