Bank holiday Monday
Thought we would play early quite a few people there . We had a 2 ball . There was a three ball ahead and a two ball behind . The three in front there was at least one American in the group. They were extremely slow made no effort to increase their rate of play . Never once offered or even hinted to offer to let us through. They spent huge amounts of time on the greens like they had all day . This spoilt our day and our experience of Sandwell as it’s such a fantastic course .
Much like other comments
Played here for the first time. Really nice layout with very good greens. Excellent value. Quite tight and potentially tough rough.
Some of the bunkers are a bit hard and the tee boxes aren't amazing. But you can forgive that because it's otherwise a great course to play
Great Course, terrible pace of play
Really enjoyed the course lots of interesting holes very well laid out and the course was in great condition except the tee boxes which were honestly quite bad, one in particular pretty much unplayable from the location of the tee boxes.
Pace of play was appalling, the groups in front of us were visiting ladies and quite frankly I have never experienced such slow play in my entire life! The pro shop /golf now organisers should have put at least an hour gap between the last group and the next tee time or at the very least get a Marshall out to hurry them along! It took me 5hrs and 55minutes to complete my round with at least 4 or 5 occasions where I was very close to walking off!
Quite a shame really because I feel I would have enjoyed the course even more had I not been waiting to play on every hole.
Fair length
First time here, tee boxes need some work but apart from that this is an excellent course, plenty of variety, tight in places with plenty to think about. Fairways are immaculate and greens are very good too. For the price this course will take some beating.
Best course in West Midlands
Brilliant course excellent condition fantastic greens and fairways . Just brilliant
Strong Golf Course
It was our first time playing here and we were all very impressed. Lots of strong holes, with well placed hazards to make scoring a challenge. Fairways were immaculate, rough well kept, bunkers all raked and greens quick and tough + plenty of green staff out on the course which is always good to see. There are several unique holes towards the start and end of the round. The tees need work as they are really scruffy and not in line with the rest of the course currently. Overall a strong track and we will be back despite the challenging drive with the M6 and M5!
Ridiculously slow pace
Half hour delay as they had a large society meeting. Didnt know about this until we arrived.
We were booked to tee off at 15:25 but didnt start until 16:05 and then took 3.5hrs to play 9 holes when we decided to leave the course as daylight would be gone by the time we got to the 18th.
3 groups in front of us also left and another group went back to the 1st tee and played the front 9 twice.
Totally unacceptable!
£30 each to play 9holes the slowest ive ever played.
Cant really comment on the course because we didn't play it all.
About time the course and also golf now stated competition and society meetings on their websites before allowing any bookings.
Not happy at all.
Sandwell park
Best course in midlands for value for money . Greens are immaculate course brilliant condition
Unwelcoming for Visitors. Very rude staff.
Been fortunate enough to visit Sandwell around 4 times since recently moving to Birmingham. A real convenience when living in the city. Both myself and my playing partner are established golfers at our previous courses (9 & 10 handicaps) and were looking for somewhere convenient to join in the coming months.
I couldn't fault the staff on all of our 3 initial visits being incredibly welcoming and offering words of advice for things to look out for on the course as a visitor. Sadly our most recent and unfortunately our last visit couldn't be further from this.
We arrived at the course and went into the pro shop straight away, we hadn't booked due to the website showing no availability. Due to a short journey and never having any issues before when this had been the case on the website we showed up in no rush to play on our arrival. When we entered the pro shop we were rudely greeted by a female member of staff who looked up and quickly straight back down at her phone. We patiently waited giving the benefit of the doubt. She then asked if we had booked a tee time, we explained we had not booked due to the website showing no availability, we thought best show up and see what they could do as on our previous 3 visits we had done the exact same.
She assured us that "they don't really accept visitors so that their members can get out whenever they would like". Interesting statement considering our previous visits. Politely we appreciate if this is the policy that's okay and we replied said no problem, so likely we can't play today?
After much deliberation we were told we could go out in 2 minutes and "squeeze out". After payment we exited the shop and were watched from the doorway until both balls were hit down the 1st. What a pleasant experience for a visitor being eagerly watched as you start your round. I presume she was watching to see if we could actually play golf. Luckily even with the added pressure we proved that we can play golf and are both clearly fairly competent.
We rushed our way through the first holes. Very much under the impression that we'd squeezed out when a lot of members were playing. Looking back for the entire round we only saw one golfer that went out behind us. Quite comical really.
Myself and my playing partner could only describe the encounter as a real shame. A hidden gem of a course ruined by a frankly unprofessional member of the 'professional shop'. These types of encounters are what make people feel they are unwelcome to take up the game of golf. Myself and my playing partner are good golfers and we felt completely out of place on this day. A bad representation of a course with seemingly rich history ruined by a member of staff who doesn't like new faces at the course. Point taken we won't be back.
You have our names for the tee time should you need to contact me.
Early evening
Lovely course, excellent condition.
Tee and fairways very good, green true and fast 👌👏
Was let down by the bunkers, avoid as they are not full of sand but Hardcore, far to many stones and rocks and I mean Rock, shocking !!!!
A Must Visit
What a cracking course. In fantastic condition and greens slick and true. I'll definitely be back. Some challenging, undulating holes that make you think. Greens that punish anything wayward with some steep drop offs. Great value midweek.
A little patch of tranquility in the middle of the Black Country. Excellent.
Good course
Good course in excellent condition. The Fairways and greens were brilliant compared to some other courses I have played this year, its been so wet, but Sandwelll seem to have sorted out the drainage. No poor lies as long as you stick to the short stuff.
Top value for money
Course in great condition, fairways decent and greens were running lovely. A challenging course but very fair. A real mix of interesting and fun holes. It was a beautiful day for golf, and at £35, outstanding value.
