Played here this morning for the first time. Hilly, tree lined course that takes a bit of thinking your way round on. Fairways and greens in good nick, especially considering the recent dry weather. Course wasn't too busy and pace of play was good. Special thanks to Josh in the pro shop who was incredibly friendly and helpful.

Greens are in fantastic condition.

Pace of play was slow.... A 4 ball of beginners held alot of people up and didn't let others through.

Course is great... Price is great.

Will defo be back.

The golf course is great visually and requires thought of the tee offering a good challenge. The round was spoilt by the extremely slow play in front of us.

Excellent course in fantastic condition.

Unfortunately stuck behind 2 x ladies 4 balls playing in a competition and the round took 5 hrs.

Will definitely return and hopefully get a clear run next time.

Shaw Hill Golf Course Review

Played Shaw Hill today and absolutely loved it. The course is in fantastic condition — the greens were immaculate, fast, and true. The fairways are tight, demanding accuracy from tee to green, which unfortunately exposed my “creative” shot-making skills. As for the hazards… let’s just say I found so many I started naming them.

Despite a blustery breeze that added an extra layer of challenge, it didn’t take away from the round — if anything, it made club selection more exciting (or confusing). A top-notch course that tests every part of your game. Highly recommend. Just bring extra balls.

Lovely layout, pretty short, have to think your way around the course. Greens fluffy and slow but pretty tidy. Only gripe was we got a random booked on top of us after booking for 2.

First time playing the course, overall great layout however the condition of the greens was really poor in comparison to the course and layout. Service in the bar afternoon, stood waiting whilst a member of staff chatting to a friend who then went to send for someone else to serve us. No smile or interaction. Not told the price just had a card reader pointed at me. No thank you or nothing. Really disappointed. Won’t be returning.

Had to finish our game early on the 13th hole due to the course being backed up and not able to play through even though we had payed to have a buggy

Really nice layout with entertaining holes in lovely countryside. I was surprised at how good it all was and will be playing again soon. The course is in good overall condition but some of the greens were a bit dodgy. Excellent value for money and a very enjoyable round.

Glorious sunshine. Course was in good condition apart from quite a few of the greens being a bit ropey: did not expect that. Play was very slow: 4 1/2 hrs+

However, after the negatives, challenging course up and down the hills and I would definitely come back and play it again if the greens are right. Overall 6 out of 10.

A few greens a bit patchy but overall fantastic condition. Layout is very good with some good thinkers holes.

The layout of this course is great, friendly proshop.

Played at the end of march and it was in fairly good shape. Groundsmen were out in force doing course maintenance, drainage, tree pruning, grass cutting etc.

Forward tees and had to play off mats which we had luckily taken. Course was dry enough to not need them and would have been good value for Money if proper tees were in play. Greens were in poor condition but it was

Obvious they had had some issues with disease. However this should have resulted in the price being lower.

Looks like they have really struggled to keep the course healthy during the winter. A nice enough course with a challenging layout but all the greens were very bobbly and diseased. Probably a great course in summer if they can save the greens and dry up the fairways. Pace of play was good and we had fun. We didn’t mind being told to play off mats but was disappointed to be asked to pay £4 to hire one, on top of a £35 fee. Plenty of better, drier courses in the area for £20 and under.

The fairways were saturated, the rough was very boggy, the greens appeared diseased, patchy, rough, the first green actually moved under your feet. The course looked more lime a cheap municipal course like the council looked after. Very over rated and at £30 very over priced. The layout was good but I wouldn't even return here in summer.

Me and my mate go back once a year (would love to go more if it wasn’t for the price). I got married at the same venue so I go back each year and love it every time. Course conditions are good, the back 9 are wet/muddy this time of year but expected. Staff were friendly as always. Just be aware you’ll need winter mats on fairways but can be rented out at pro shop.
