Shaw Hill Golf Club

Lovely layout but greens were worst I’ve played on this year. Gouges on every green like someone been chipping bits out of them. Horrifically slow round as well and the fella in pro shop was a miserable git.

Hadn’t played Shaw Hill for over 20 years and I have to say I was disappointed. The greens were rock hard with bare patches all over. It took 4 and a 1/2 hours to play the round as a two ball (we had to wait on every shot from the 4th tee). Toilet facilities on the course consisted of a portaloo which in this day and age is unacceptable. There are also no refreshments available on the course.

Off course facilities were ok considering the restrictions due to COVID-19.

Course was in great condition. All fairways cut lovely and well drained.

Greens were very fast as it looks like they had put sand down but there was no undulations because of this.

Staff were lovely when spoken to.

4 hours to play 12 holes, walked off. barely playable.

Stunning setting, weather was really nice, course looked immaculate. Standard Sunday afternoon pace but it wasn’t unbearable. The undulations make it a real test for club choices. Overall a great day & we’ll be back soon

Great course, ut had handled the recent rain quite well considering. Paths and some areas wet and boggy but the actual course very playable with no standing water on fairways etc. Only issue was it was fully booked and at our tee time there were still 2 groups on the tee waiting so if it gets busy expect to be waiting if you play at a half decent pace

Evey hole is different and presents an interesting challenge.

Really good value for money, well kept course and very scenic. Sand treatment on the greens and being wet made putting difficult but is to be expected on Monday and in Autumn. Will be back.

Myself and 4 of my friends played here after a night of rain and it was still heavy drizzle when we turned up. The course itself was laid out great and the fairways held the water relatively well. The greens however were virtually unplayable with standing water on every green. This had an impact on the pace of play and our 3 and a 2 ball turned into a 5 ball after 5 holes as it was so slow and even as 5 players we were waiting on every tee Keeping up with the two ball in front of us. After 8 holes, two of my friends decided enough was enough and walked off the course. Not long after, we decided to just play 16-18 and call it a day. I imagine if it was a weekday, the course would have been closed and it’s understandable during this time they can’t really afford to be refunding a busy days worth of green fees. Would love to play the course again in dry conditions as I’m sure it would be worth the £35 but unfortunately on this day it wasn’t worth the 30 mile drive

Lovely place to play golf. Even though very wet it was still in very good condition.

Work currently being done in and around the place which will make it more enjoyable to play.

See you in the summer when the greens and fairways will be immaculate I’m sure

great course in good condition for time of year, can only get better. great course to play March - October as before and after these times the course is wet , nice clubhouse
